I dont think you know what you are talking about my friend. Your little Microtik is of no interest to any hacker or activist out on the internet - I can assure you that.

Refresher on what a DDOS actually is. You do not fall in this category i believe, unless you host some well known website(s), or provide an internet service that lots of people find useful.

To be fair I don't think the denial of service is necessarily accurate...

But what I did find, I bought a Mikrotik router years ago, and within 20 minutes of plugging it in it was getting login attempts from China every 10 seconds at least (and probably still is but I've disabled external access entirely)..... granted they all failed because the first thing I do is change the admin user and password...

Whatever hey, the router was hacked into on the 21st while I was configuring it (I hadn't yet changed the password)
We have a few clever okes living in this street

Next time you post I am going to patronise you and claim you're stupid. Then we're even.

Relax meneer, I'm just saying - you are most probably not under attack from some cyber criminal(s), maybe your neighbors trying to have some fun, but certainly not a full scale DDOS as you indicated.

Not fighting with you, just stating the obvious. ;-)

Just a small note re: Cool Ideas. Placed order online for 10meg with Openserve. Bascially 3 days later am up and running. Really amazing service and turn around. Thanks Cool Ideas

Once my line was ordered with Supersonic too it took 2 days to be up and running.

Openserve is not playing 2 days max after order for them to install. Best thing Openserve did was to outsource to contractors. The contractors are hungry for money from Openserve so the installs happen fast.

I also had great service. The moment my line went live they set up my account and I received the router the next day. :)

Best router for R2k?
WiFi at my parents is a problem apparently and they need something with great WiFi coverage

You can always have a main router with a couple of access points across the property to keep everybody connected. Also, try different wifi channels as the 2.4GHz spectrum can get quite loaded nowadays. 5GHz wifi doesn't have that issue but doesn't penetrate walls etc as well, so you generally have less range.

Was up and running in 2.5 days..router wss delivered day after I ordered!awesomeness!!

Thanks.

Really stuck between choosing cool ideas or rocketnet at this point. A bit short on cash so rocketnet does seem like a better option at this point. Just don't want to choose the cheaper one and then have issues :/

Some places are slightly difficult to put a router in, got a decentish one for the moment.
Might need those plug-in WiFi extenders at some point it seems

Thanks.

@PBCool So guess what my problem was..
Friggen Denial of Service attack on my router.... via the wireless, onto the Mikrotik.
Turn Wifi off... full line speed.

Does anyone here know how I can secure these things because this is a new issue, since moving into a new area it happens, a LOT

There are some firewall rules. I had someone set up mine.. But maybe ask on

@PBCool were there not talks on new packages becoming available in 2019?

I cant fault my 10/10 line but now i need moaaaaaaar speed.
I don't think there will be new packages aside from the 10Mbps on Vumatel. We will be offering an interesting 1Gbps package soon though.

Anyone's latency higher then usual to London tonight? Mines bouncing between 160-190 continuously
