I have received confirmation today, that a COCT backhaul link to Blouberg, and Westbeach on the Octotel network is awaiting a capacity upgrade, and that it has been congested for a while.

The link is provided by City of Cape Town Fibre, and the upgrade process was meant to happen this morning, at 4am, but has not yet.
Finally, the truth emerges and its what we suspected.
Can we now get an honest answer as to when Octotel plan to pull the finger out their backside about this, or is it about money?

so your international speed tests are running well? London coreix Ltd ... could you please test. I also moved from mf works to cool ideas

I don't think I'm the best person to compare to though. Also Coreix has disappeared from the speedtest list, did we break it?

To be fair rodent said that portion of the network belongs to City of Cape Town, not to Octotel so this could be a case of broken telephone.

OK, so explain that to me... what the hell is Octotel doing that for?
That means its government BS and red tape that's the cause?

I don't know the ins and outs of how Octotel works but I do know a couple of years ago City of Cape Town had a huge push to build their own fiber network in Cape Town, to connect all municipal building and schools to give them cheap internet.

But yeah, not 50/50 International, but kids can "Fortnite" without complaints and everybody is streaming Showmax, Netflix and Youtube without complaining...

Twitch is completely useless tonight.

Twitch can't function when it can only pull 300 KB/s

Thanks for the feedback. I was really hoping they would have fixed yours.

I guess I'll keep posting here and filling in the excel sheet and hope something changes.

Nothing at al has changed.. now I am actually working remotely i.e. at home, logged into the office via VPN.
The firewall reveals how many packets are being lost due to congestion.. It's not pretty... running an average of 33% and it got worse as we approached 10pm.
Local by the way..
