OCTOFAIL STRIKES AGAIN
Sometimes what i do is type in london then a space afterwards and backspace then it shows the list correctlyI'm trying to do same test to same location you tested to show cool ideas something ain't right ... but I can't find it in the list![]()
@PBCool. Is this for Southern Suburbs (Claremont/Kenilworth/Rondebosch) as well as speeds are ridiculous in the evenings! So some feedback from Octotel is that they use a portion of Cape Town city's fibre network for backhaul and some of it is congested. It was supposed to be upgraded this week but there was some complication. It is apparently going to be done any day now. As soon as I have further feedback I will update.
Guess not.@PBCool. Is this for Southern Suburbs (Claremont/Kenilworth/Rondebosch) as well as speeds are ridiculous in the evenings!

This is what we are told, but it's a start. We can then work through everyone affected piece by piece. If I recall correctly this is for the Blouberg area, so its to fix artyloop and joeine's issue.
We are still sol.

Yeah its 100% congestion on the link, i had a issue with the link in my area when i first got fibre which was a year after it was installed. Finished a data contract first. But then i go hold of a contact at MFN and they did a upgrade for me. Ever since then it has been rather happy. The one thing i find weird which pushes towards congestion is that the local is always fine and int is bad for certain users. Yes i know it deals with TTL etc and all but still the int links at certain points are probably congested is all that i can think. Its a thing that we just have to live with for some as part of being in the southern worldso this morning

off my phone
TCP slows down traffic when a packet is lost and speeds up when all packets are received on the other end. If a packet is dropped frequently due to an overloaded router, traffic to a server with a ping of 10ms will speed up 100 times per second, but traffic to a server with a ping of 250ms will only speed up 4 times a second. So local traffic will always get back up to speed easier in between the lost packets. Even if the international bandwidth is idle.Yeah its 100% congestion on the link, i had a issue with the link in my area when i first got fibre which was a year after it was installed.
