Thanks to PBCool and team for helping me get setup! but seems i also have an issue on MetroFibre in Centurion with almost non existent international traffic. Local/Youtube flys @ 200MBps but Twitch and such does not really load and buffers to hell.

Speedtest on idle line:
Randburg CISP:

London Int:

Both are multi-threaded as do not even want to see single thread performance.

I am on 50/50 Metrofibre with CISP and getting similar international..

Let's "team up" to get this sorted @willsotaku

100/100 frogfoot parklands/tableview on cisp trenched. i cannot stream 1080p youtube. I don't want to hear excuses, I just want to hear what's the cause of it and what's being done about it @PBCool .

this is not what i expect from youtube streaming, let alone anything else. I didnt upgrade to 100mb fibre to have stuff buffer. twitch same issue. can't stream smoothly. hilarious for 100mb fibre, which currently is a waste of money

Streaming has been fine for a couple of days, but I am trying to download a 1.5 Gig linux iso now and the speed is very slow, showing it will take 5 hours to download. I changed over to my vpn, speed immediately go up, now showing 5 minutes to download. Is this not throttling?

There might be a problem with your actual line or ONT. I’m in Sunningdale just down the road on Frogfoot with CISP 100/100 and have no such issue. Tonight as always have a 4K Netflix stream, 2x YouTube streams in 1080p and a Twitch stream in 1080p. No problemo.

I will only complain when things are broken. This is not a restart router issue. No one should need to restart, this is something else. I complained before when i used 10/10 cisp and frogfoot. I want my internet to work from the get-go. Nothing, even rebooting, fixed my previous issue, I literally pay for 100mb, and I expect 100mb throughput now.

I am here to let the cisp team know that there is problem, and that I am hoping I will get assistance

yeah I want to try a VPN ... heard someone else getting full speed with a VPN

Nope, the vpn might just be bypassing a congested part of the path. If it was an isp issue you would also have slow throughput on VPN. The internet consists of so many stitched together networks and players. What one needs to understand is that your ISP has zero control of all destinations on the web and can and will never be able to guarantee throughput to all. You will have good connections and you will have bad connections its just the nature of the beast being the www and will never be 100%, the quicker its understood the less insane one will get.

Problem is.. I had a vpn before, but dns was an issue. (Basically the ISP's would screw you over for not using their own DNS) I currently refuse to pay extra for the VPN, because of the internet I am paying for. I understand there's issues with MFN, Octotel and Openserver from all the users on this thread. But so far it was running amazingly on frogfoot. This is a weird issue to have now...

Very true, but google has SA based cloud servers. And in that breathe, so too, should they have youtube servers. I have had a multitude of issues with twitch before (on my 10/10 connection) which doesn't affect youtube, since they appear to have local servers, however tonight is the exception.

That’s why I would think it’s something on your specific circuit as I’m only a few km’s away on the same network and ISP with zero issues. Log a ticket with CISP to check your line with Frogfoot.

What DNS are you using? I find Cloudflare best (1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1), have used theirs from the get go.

I hardly ever download anything, so not stressed at all. As long as my streaming is fine, I am happy.

I spoke to Paul before, when I was using 'alternate' DNS, and he insisted I use CISP DNS instead. So that's what I use.

Just FYI, youtube is now a bit better. But I hate having these issues when upgrades/downgrades are being done.

It irks me to no end, when someone cannot be bothered to tell their clients that changes are being made. If you want to upgrade/downgrade your clients, let them know. This is basic client service 101.

@PBCool What's the problem???

@PBCool I just got off the phone with one of your agents and was told nothing wrong with the line and everything is fine. This after telling me the issue was fixed by MF and this after a previous agent told me no they will get MF to call me ... and now I get told there is nothing wrong with my line :(

this customer service is quite worrying ... telling me that 10mbps is fine on international and if I want better I should buy a business line is quite sad.

me considering buying a VPN to get my promised speeds and making other attempts to up my speed is not on. I bought 100/100 and I expect 100/100 ...

just tell me that's how your service is and I must accept it then I can move on and get my refund

That's absolute bull. So they are essentially blaming contention ratios. Wonder what their excuse would be if you got a business line and they still can't deliver the advertised speeds? :)

Business line won't help, this is our 200Mb Business fibre line, different provider.

I think people have unrealistic expectations of fibre speeds from SA to international. We have a 1Gbps business line direct with Seacom and that also only get's about half speed to Europe.
