Any one perhaps have any issues with a USG running the PPPOE connecting on TT Connect, every morning like clock work my download speed goes to 0mbps to any site, however tracerts seem fine, but my upload stays at line speed. MTU set at 1436... but the standard w840n works fine... assume it's some setting on the USG.

Try enabling MSS clamping on your USG.

Always had it enabled. Basically anywhere after say 10am if I switch back to the USG, it works fine, but from say 5am-10am my speeds are borked. Plug in the TP Link, no problem.

Your line is now using IS transit only, so doesn't seem like much of a difference.
I honestly think RD is the issue here. They are very hit and miss for me personally. I stopped using them altogether.

With my USG on the TT Connect line it was set to dynamic not pppoe, also had the MTU set to 1500. Will try and find my old config of it.

The loss is happening between your router and our PPP concentrator which is a line or carrier issue usually.

Just for all of your reference, from some statistics gathered on a "debug blackbox device " installed on a 100mbps Octotel line in Claremont.

Doing a 10 second 30mbps iperf udp test to trcvmh01.cisp.co.za every 10 minutes.

No PPPoE, just raw ethernet direct to our core in Teraco Rondebosch.

Code:
Fri Feb 8 12:48:30 Loss:(0.44%) LostPkts:113

And for reference, what one can expect on a TCP connection, with 160ms latency and 3% packet loss in terms of throughput...

(MSS 1460 byte, RTT: 160.0 ms, Loss: 3%) : 0.42 Mbit/sec.

We have ordered some additional black box bridges and will be sending them to poor performing clients, so that we can provide more hard evidence to FNO's.

Wow, absolutely shocking to say the least ! Now that's some next level troubleshooting right there. Hats off to you guys for going the extra mile. Here's hoping more struggling CISP users will partake in identifying areas on poor performing FLP's.

That's some appalling packet loss! Is there a specific reason that you ran the test using 30Mbps on a 100Mbps line? Is that to just give an underestimation of the network issue?

I was wondering the same. On my 20Mbps line with a 18Mbps iperf I get 50% loss...

I hope this loadshedding cr@p is not going to cause havoc again with our fibre network. My schedule shows loadshedding at 2 pm for my area, but for some reason my electricity went off at 10. Five minutes later it came on again. All this on and off cannot be good for the ont.

Definitely not. Get a UPS to run in line with your router and ONT. I have an RCT 650VA that runs my router, ONT, NAS and Ubiquiti AP during load sheds.

Well done, and great job to proving the Fibre providers to be the fault (as we suspected). I pretty much maintained the problem was never with CISP
Unfortunately it won't help me, as what is done is done, its just a sad situation to be in but such is life.

Unfortunately this is here to stay until they get their tarriff increase or more bailout from the SA taxpayer. This is embargo in the purest form, the vile, despicable strong-arm tactics the ANC loves using on its people.
