How do you get around the issue that the UPS turns itself off after about 5+ minutes? Mine does not want to stay on for longer then 5 - 7 minutes, And I only have the CPE and Wifi Router connected to it. I have to turn it back on every 5 - 7 minutes.

All good and well, but I after paying so much in tax during my husband and my working careers that it is reasonable to expect electricity. So now we have to fork out more money on our pension to make sure we have some kind of entertainment. Cannot go out in the evening for fear of having our throats slit.

It could be that the batteries are at the end of their life. How old are they? From my experience they only last around 3 years.
 
Anyone gettings slow international speeds on CISP?
I'm 100mb down and 25up on Octotel but barely get 26mb if I'm lucky on the international bandwidth usually averaging out about 8mb on my 100mb line!

Here are my iperf tests Top to cool ideas in CT bottom to California USA is only giving me 7.8mb (iperf.he.net) This is a public iperf server on HE network.

yeah is around that age I think, will have to check invoice. anyways, loadshedding is in 1 min
 
OK, load-shedding in progress, but still connected, better than yesterday, because yesterday the connection to the fibre also went down and only came back more then 2 hours after load-shedding was over. So far so good, lets see if I can stay connected during the 2.5 hours of load-shedding. This UPS beeping every 30 seconds is annoying as Fuc!
 
Ok, loadshedding done here, but the Fibre is freaking out again still.

I've hooked up some solar to the ADSL modem. The solar panel produces a max of 10w, the router uses 6w so it works out alright with a battery between the two.

Not sure if I can run this with fibre, as the router needs 6w and reading the plug on the fibre it looks to be 12w. So I'd need about 18w. The battery might make the shortfall...

The ultimate problem is that I need to plug it into the solar system, so at some point I'll have to change it back to mains and get the "DHCP storm" problem regardless..
 
Vuma fibre is back online here in Panorama, but is basically unusable again... Check the loss and latency.

Are these issues related to the Vuma DHCP storm or on the CISP + carrier end of things? The screenshot would indicate the latter if I'm not mistaken.

Edit: Things seem to have come right, still very curious as to what exactly is occurring.

Just phoned wootware and mustek, there are no replacement batteries, not for apc, or even there own mecer brand, if in warranty they replace the unit, out of warranty , if battery is kaput you must buy a new ups. So where do i get replacement battery locally, or which brand hold replacement batteries?

Internet still up, and 1.5 hours into loadshedding.

Open the UPS and look at the size and rating of the battery, or even better, take the battery to your nearest battery store (e.g. Battery Centre etc) and ask if they stock them. It's usually a rectangular 7Ah battery that looks like this: https://www.batteryexperts.co.za/shop/12v-7ah/

Some good news at least. No idea in regards to your battery problem. Might be cheaper just to buy an entry level UPS?
