Damn!! That upload?!! :love::love::love::love: ISP? Afrihost? Randburg MTN or Telkom Saix usually work best for me...

Can you run an iperf for us?

iperf3 --verbose --port 17001 -c queen.cisp.co.za --bandwidth 500M -l 1400 --omit 2 -R -u
 
Doesn't the data have to go somewhere?

You're surely shunting too much at those speeds to keep it all in ram?
 
@TheRoDent Can you tell us whats going on with Octotel?

My line hasn't gotten any better :(

You know what really surprised me about the whole Octotel issue is that clearly it's congestion somewhere by the speeds you are getting but no increased latency? Why. Congestion when it gets bad latency suffers but not with you guys on Octotel. Very strange.

Was watching some twitch clips this morning and noticed they were loading and playing almost instantly. Ran a ping/traceroute to twitch and it's now resolving to a local IP. Only seems to apply to videos/clips though, not live streaming - but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

Yeah twitch website and clips is running through Cloudlare local CDN which is why the website will always load quick but streams are still EU or NA unfortunately

This drives me insane. Website will load instantly, ads too of course, then you try and load a stream and it does this:

Yup, twitch is only pulling 160KB/s on a 100mb line. So its non-functional.

You will probably find that latency has gone up by 5-10ms or so, the rest of the packets are just dropped by the overloaded router, I guess it can only cache so many packets in RAM. That was my observation when vumatel had a fibre break.
 
It's back to buffering even on clips/videos this morning, so it must've been a blip. Weird if it is/was always hosted on a local CDN. Clearly something isn't working.

Thanks will definitely feedback tonight. Usually issues start from 6pm/7pm. Had a nasty spike in latency as well as packet loss last night

Latency does increase but mildly. It goes up by 1-4ms.

Honestly though I have no idea whats wrong, @TheRoDent says its packet loss on my line which goes up to ~3% in the evenings. At first I didn't think 3% packet loss could cripple a 100mb line with the speeds I've been seeing but then he showed some proof with a tcp throughput calculator.

Try it yourself. 100mb line, RTT 160, packet loss 3%, MTU 1480 (if I remember correctly) and you'll end up with an expected throughput of 0.72mb which is more or less what I get.
