Hope Cape Gate/Brackenfell is next! Getting around 50mb/s, a lot better than it was in the past.

Peak time (18:00 - 22:00) stats for me the last few days

Last I saw @TheRoDent said Octotel were looking into a broadcast issue two ISPs were creating which resulted in packet loss for the Cape Gate area. He also said that Octotel are looking at no longer using City of Cape town for some transit locations and will build their own rather. So Octotel are aware of issues in the Cape Gate area.

How long does it take for the line to be released to the holding pool? Webafrica have said it should have taken 24h but when I got a response from Cool Ideas they said it still isn’t released.

Anyone here on Octotel in the Table View / Blouberg area? Did you notice any change to your line from yesterday at around 3pm? Looks like somebody did something at Octotel, my latency improved and didn't see any degradation last night like I usually do at peak hours.

Sorry about hijacking this thread but it's pretty active so thought I'd have luck here.

Octotel did indicate that they were awaiting another upgrade for Blouberg from CityFibre last week Friday, so likely that's happened.

Couldn't be bothered anymore actually. Cancelled with Cool Ideas yesterday due to them blocking websites, or not knowing how to route traffic to MTN and IS.

Traffic being filtered by eNetworks routers upstream from them and they say "Telkom is blocking your traffic". Wish someone technical would get involved and give an actual explanation. Oh well. Cheers Cool Ideas.

What IP address are you assigned, and what network are you on?

I just want to thank you for all your hard work with Octotel. Although twitch is still iffy at times, general internet use has become significantly better. Its becoming clear Octotel are finally waking up and upgrading their network, hopefully in time as the upgrades come through twitch will improve too.

I've never had a CEO go to the lengths you did to prove to Octotel something was wrong. Thanks man

Agree with you a hundred percent.

In the 102.132.224.0/20 range

Edit: Looks like Cool Ideas were routing a bunch of traffic via eNetworks yesterday but today they are simply going via HE as usual. Sites are working again.

Looks like a peering/BGP rookie let a bunch of routes leak that they shouldn't have... That or Cool Ideas struck a deal with eNetworks to handle some of their traffic and the routing was botched.

Hi my line went down yesterday vuma trenched in Glenvista. I reported it and got the reference no isp75558 . When I phoned this afternoon the call centre told me Vumatel had said it was fixed. When I get home the blue light is still flashing so hold on for 10 minutes while they have to dispute the closure with Vumatel.
Is this the norm?
Can this be escalated to a tech who doesn't lie like the Telkom techs?
How do I get credit for time lost on the line?

Blitz fibre

Blitz fibre have advised of technical difficulties, affecting the following complexes;

Viscount Village

Edwards Place

Pauls Place

Shellyvale

Blitz fibre technicians are attending to the issue

Currently no ETR

Any idea when this will be resolved

Assuming vumatel workers stuffed up with their digging in the area

No fibre or power
