Any known issues in CPT for international...not getting more than 40% international. Local is full speed.

Maybe Octotel are rolling out their new hardware or WACS broke again? Usually though if its WACS more people would be complaining, more likely its just normal Octotel Rondebosch things.

Octofail.. rolling out new hardware?:ROFL::ROFL: Man that was a good laugh,
Anyway sorry to see so many of you are still suffering. You have my deepest sympathies.

Any idea why routing to this jhb server (192.230.45.146) is 180? MTR shows the route exits HE's joburg node at 180.

I think it may just be the coreix server or the route being taken to it.

Heres what i get on vuma 200/200 CPT:

Well with the amount of "heat" they getting from consumers, I'd be more worried about it all burning down.

Honestly all the "heat" is probably aimed at the ISPs. I doubt anyone outside this thread knows about Octotel's network quality, or lack thereof.

@TheRoDent While pinging a twitch stream I noticed that '154.0.4.158' switches every few seconds to '154.0.4.122' and back. It's very erratic. Could this at all be affecting streaming performance?

No, that is not an issue. We have multiple routers that loadbalance connections (think scaling sideways) so it's very possible that you could use multiple paths/hops at hop 6. Especially with an ICMP/traceroute connection that is not stateful, the path could switch.

Our ECMP (Equal Cost Multipath) setup however, would normally prefer a single path for a single UDP or TCP stream based on the source and destination IP addresses and ports. But since traceroute/icmp is stateless, you would see a switch every now and again.

Basically, you are going through more than one router at specific hops (our redundancy and scaling mechanism).

But typically your traffic will prefer one path.

Have received notification that Octotel will move us to different switch gear on Friday the 12th between 6am and 7am.
@TheRodent

Octotel Cape Gate

What does that mean for us, the user? Some here, like me, do not understand all the technical terms.

Just means we are going to be switched over to their new network interface. Not much should change to be honest unless they've made significant changes behind the scenes.

Correct. It really shouldn't have any impact.

To avoid long pages I'm gonna start putting results in a spoiler tag
