Does this mean the problem is not with Octotel if Cool Ideas changed something their side and now all of a sudden we can stream?

@TheRoDent @PBCool 9PM check in.

Octotel 100/25. Cape Town, Southern Suburbs.

No proxy:

Clearly whatever you guys did helped a heck ton. Not getting single digit throughput to london at 9pm is miracle.

More of a combination at this point, Octotel and Vumatel haven't fully completed their upgrades as yet. The layer2 issue to London from what we can tell has been for a couple of days at peak. I should have confirmation tomorrow.

It only improved slightly, like slightly enough to be able to stream at a few mbit.

The core issue is still with Octotel.

Thanks @PBCool
Dont understand most of these things, only happy to be able to stream.

Please can somebody look into my issue and not ask if it's a wireless problem? [Ticket ID: COOL-20190415-253507] Slow speeds

Attached is a traceroute and torch showing my Lan traffic. Clearly there is an issue on your end since this is direct from my router. Capture.jpg

What would be the cause of lower upload speeds to international destinations? E.g. if I do a single-threaded test to Coreix I get around 20/10 speeds while I'm on a 20/20 Frogfoot line. Not a major issue to me, was just wondering what would cause this?

Happy with the international multi upload, not so much the download

What upgrades are octotel doing?

Could be your physical fibre provider too..

I'm going to refrain from saying anything :)

Yeah plastic switches would be nice. Hell even if they throw some pick n pay bags over the cardboard ones I'll be happy

But seriously. Last I heard Octotel were upgrading the NNI stuff that CI is on. I was also told, by a community member, that the upgrade will have no tangible affect on customers, so waiting for that upgrade to finish is not going to help my throughput or packet loss in the evenings. Are there any other upgrades Octotel are doing?

Can you PM me your IP?

This was just an NNI move not an upgrade, apparently we were on a separate switch from the other providers for no apparent reason.

This usually depends on your OS and its ability to scale TCP windows on outbound connections, Windows 10 doesn't do this well, Linux and MacOS usually do. This is why multi-thread provides a better result.

Cool thanks, will give it a shot on Linux if I remember and see if it makes a difference. :)

Have you considered making a stink with Octotel themselves and having them come out to check the quality and integrity of your actual installation?
