CISP is my 3rd ISP since moving to fibre on Octotel since May last year. First 2-3 months was fine, then poopoo. I been running tests since October last year. All 3 ISP's have had the same issue with Octotel.
Same, had another ISP, trouble started in October.

Tonight though so far buffer free.

But surely packetloss is packetloss, caused by something like a saturated link or bad SNR on ones line - and this loss should reflect on an iperf be it local or international?

How can one have, let's say 8% PL on an international iperf but 0.6% locally? If there is indeed loss on the line and retransmits, the loss would be tracked either way.

My understanding was that if you are dealing with packetloss, your throughput will be much better locally due to the <1ms latency retransmits, and much lower internationally due to much higher latency.

Does this mean that there is actually LESS loss because of the lower latency? and the higher latency simply exposes a bad line? Because this does not make sense in @image132 's case as the proxy doesn't have the ability to reduce the latency to EU, but yet it gives him more than double his international throughput (which is supposedly caused by PL + latency to EU) :unsure:o_O

I have no idea how or why, but the further it goes, the worse it is. Currently only getting like 55mbit to JHB on my 100/100. Local is 100mbit, EU is 38mbit.

Also, Twitch has no cache/private headers. So technically it is not meant to be routed via a proxy.

Mine has been good so far too however I'm going to wait until 9pm before I say its gone.

Like I said last night, the changes CISP made, and admitted they were overutilizing the CPT link, probably just gives one enough to stream without buffering, but it is hardly a solution.

Compare that from say what other FNO's can get to London at the same time, probably a good 70%+ of line speed during peak. That said, when I was on Afrihost, I had a 100/25 Octotel in CPT CBD user on Afrihost do international speedtest same time as me. I got like 5mbit, he got like 80mbit or more.

Edit:

International packet loss starting up again. Explains why twitch doesn't work but this is a great example of how the proxy isn't a magic bullet that fixes everything all the time.

Mine too, something seems to have happened... lol

Twitch is struggling, even though there should be enough throughput for a 6Mb/s video stream

What do your iperf results look like when you run it at -80M ?

EDIT: Nevermind, just saw your 25Mb/s upload :whistling:

I'll run it at 80 tomorrow for you. Trust me it won't be gone by then.

Yeah, that is pretty poor :(

Yup this is what the last 6 months have been for me. I used to actually get sub 1mb throughput thanks to 3-5% packet loss.

6 months later and I still can't watch twitch in the evenings. I've honestly lost my faith in Octotel.

#COOL-20190325-241271 - International is slow
Can you follow up? Your support wanted to send me a router you can ping last week Friday and I haven't gotten any update on when delivered?

International is still slow, but haven't noticed any disconnects this week, admittedly haven't been home as much though so could still be happening.

No packetloss to CPT, but other local and international > 0%

Peeps of mybb.

I cannot work with the WR840N router anymore. Wireless is just not sufficing on it.

Any suggestions on what to purchase as a decent upgrade? Looking in the R0 - R1000 range. Not exactly rich to go out and buy some crazy priced item.

Busy browsing some sites ala takealot but not really sure what to look for, since its not an adsl router.

Any help appreciated

I see that archer c2 is basically EOL in SA, is there a newer version out? The C2 is out of stock in many SA shops.
