The TCP one never gives me consistent results.
I just ran it again, got average of 14mbps.
Waited 10 seconds, ran it again and got an average of 130mbps - go figure.

Are your actual downloads slow?

single threaded, yes - i see the 4 to 8 mbit/s limit get hit - but if I thread downloads enough, then i get line speed

I think the major issue here is that complaints aren't public - they're going to CISP, who are banging their heads against Octotel's wall. Perhaps if everyone having issues in this area starts making a fuss on a public forum, like their FB page or Twitter, we may get some attention?
Joined the group. 5 minutes later was approved and in. Posted my ping timeouts and the fact that so many people are having struggles with their network in the south. It's been 4 hours and my post is still pending :D

Also, I am now running a SME level dedicated Ubiquity Edge Router X for my internet and my old asus router as a wifi access point. If I still get timeouts on my connection I know it's 100% NOT ME.

@PBCool @TheRoDent things are just degrading, not improving. Since I have no way of complaining at Octotel, I'm going to complain at you guys. Downright sick of this.

Since my bill isn't split between Octotel and CISP, how about I start calculating what percentage of my line speed I'm actually getting in the evenings and pay that percentage of my monthly fee accordingly?

You guys keep saying Octotel isn't doing anything and just shrugging your shoulders, while a whole lot of your customers are left with completely unusable fibre lines. Sort it out. Band together with other ISPs and put pressure on Octotel - since you're adamant it's them, other ISPs must be fielding complaints too, right? This has gone beyond ridiculous.

Opened up a new ticket, since I'm sure that'll be the first question I'm asked. I look forward to the inevitable "we couldn't find anything wrong" or "we've refreshed your line, how is it now?" response.

Can someone explain to me why it is I now can't even stream Netflix? Are their servers not localised here? How is it I can't even achieve a 480p stream at the moment?

If you're on Octotel there's large amounts of packet loss on their network right now for unknown reasons, even local (within Cape Town) is nearing 10% loss for me. As to why CISP is silent on the matter I don't know.

I really feel sorry for you SS Octotel people now. At least upload packetloss is not too bad unless you gaming. But download loss like that, I would be breaking things by now.

It is really weird how my line (Cape Gate) is behaving exactly the opposite in terms of packetloss exactly at the same time.

How dodgy must your network be to behave like this?

Placing bets now on them using the previous excuse "We found rogue UDP traffic on our network". Translated" "We have rubbish equipment that does random things we are not aware of as we dont work after hours and dont have monitoring in place."
