Yeah look, usage cases might differ, but on Frogfoot I get like 10Mbps to 20 Mbps downloads from the UK even on a 100Mb line so it’s basically only local that I see full throughout anyway. Other fibre networks might differ.

So you're also having the same issue as me. I used to get my 100Mbps down on OpenServe, Frogfoot CI I don't.

@PBCool and I have set up my router, still do not have speed improvements.

Good to know, hopefully their networks team has communicated something and we don't have to do the manual pppoe connection test to prove it's not the router...
Are you getting failed auth or auth timeouts? Nothing from MTN as yet.

It says failed to authenticate but only after more than 10s, am not home right now to confirm but I remember it was not an immediate failure

It's a nice to have, and for some being able to download a large file quickly is worth it, instead of 80 seconds for a gig, you wait 8 seconds, e.g. shadow of war was about 120GB download, so near 3 hours download, on 1Gbps it's 16 minutes.

With regards to steam, its impossible to get gigabit speeds with all the overhead there is in packing the files and whatever else it does. The speed varies quite greatly and i typically see anywhere between 30-50MB\s. Also yesterday i downloaded Prey via the Joburg download server and it peaked at about 32MB\s, switched over to Belgium and it was running consistently at 48-50MB\s, so sometimes the download server can be a limiting factor too.

Both JHB and CPT are now back up again. MTN obviously did some changes or maintenance this morning that we were not made aware of.

I generally see the same across all downloads from the JHB cache, being written to SSD.

Yeah MTN back up, but pings are still a bit weird. 25ms to Google and cisp.co.za. I usually get 5 to 6
Noticed my pings are higher than usual, also download on Speedtest only getting around 20 to local Speedtest servers, upload goes to 70 on my 50mb

Looks like something's broken

Yeah we had some weird asymmetry with Joburg traffic going via Cape Town to MTN's network.
This should now be sorted out.
