I have a similar situation so I contacted PBCool, who then asked me to send further emails. After bugging him a few more times, I eventually got a poor response from Cool Ideas.

I live in an area covered by TTConnect. I asked Cool Ideas to assist in getting fibre installed my complex but the response I got was TTConnect would have to come do a site survey. I knew that much already. I needed Cool Ideas to communicate with TTConnect and get them to my complex.

Yesterday, after that email exchange, I emailed TTConnect directly with the same query. Today a sales consultant from Fredd emailed and called me about my installation. Cool ;) I asked the sales consultant about just getting a line installed and she said that TTConnect does deal directly with customers, the new line application must come from an ISP.

Fredd is also owned by Tesuco. Is TTConnect deliberately delaying other ISP's in order to push their own in house ISP?

Please also drop me a mail, TTConnect orders are done directly through us. The site survey is a standard thing. TTConnect deals directly with customers via their in-house ISP, which are based in the same building.

How does one go about getting the modem from Cool Ideas? They are coming to install the line to the house on Friday and I preferably would want to be able to use it by Friday. Is there someone I should email or an option i should select on the Cool Ideas Client portal?

Thanks in advance.

If you completed the application form then the router is couriered once the line is active, if you need it on Friday I would advise collecting it from our offices. Our courier collects devices the day prior to them being delivered, if we send the router prior your billing will also start from that day and if there is a delay on the install etc this complicates things a bit.

If you have an existing router with an ethernet wan port, you can plug that in then goto shop.vumatel.co.za create an account, select your cool ideas package and then reboot your router and you will be live. Just set the router up to use DHCP via the WAN port. Exactly how to do that is router specific.

I put my order through the Octotel order page but haven't received any response yet from either party.

Should I just order directly from the Cool Ideas site?

Unfortunately I only have 3 DSL Routers lying around. And I'm on Frogfoot so Vumatel won't work :P. My best bet at this point is to let them install and activate my fiber line and then take the Gautrain to Cool Ideas to go pick up the router on Friday.

Oops, sorry, I thought I'd read vumatel somewhere in this thread. Must be old age kick in ;)

Drop me a PM with the account name and I'll make a plan for you.

Getting installation on Wednesday and splicing on Friday.
Does that mean I will be live on Friday after splicing? If so, when will I get the cool ideas router?

Is this also on Frogfoot?

Britelink for Fibrehoods.

There is very little chance that once they are done splicing it will become available on their portal for us to apply for the configuration to take place, so realistically Monday or Tuesday you would be live. If it does happen you can collect a router from us over the weekend?

Okay. If it goes live I will come and collect it over the weekend.

Can you drop a mail to connect at cisp.co.za stating if it does go live you will collect on the weekend, alternatively please courier.

@PBCool, when are you going to give us the option of a Mikrotik instead of a "normal" router? Something like the hAP or HEX?

It doesn't make sense for the average consumer, so I don't see it happening anytime soon, it's gets into the wrong hands and you have the making of a botnet for DNS ddos exposure on our network.

A big thanks to PBCool and the whole Cool Ideas team for the incredible service. You really make the whole process easy and go out of your way to help your customers.
