Could I get a test account for my parent's Vox 100Mbit Openserve line please? Seems something might be wrong... Meanwhile my 200/200 CIAP Vuma is flying.

Indeed. And my whole question is about am I getting the "line" I paid for.
You didn't pay for 200mbps single thread transfers.

Fire up some torrents, or multiple connections to a premium news server.

I know you know that - my question was sort of based on if that is the furthest out I can get, what are international speeds like.

How do we get genuine speed tests is my ultimate question. Bouncing around inner Western Cape is not warming my innards as to true speed.
Yeah go to Speedtest.net change server, enter London for instance.

Vodafone Frankfurt - 159ms/96/6

Interesting you mentioned London.

144ms/172/18 - is this ok in terms of Cools Ideas expected response? Genuine question; the upload seems cool.

More though:

Mumbai India -386ms/44/2

Rome - 175ms/98/11

Dublin - 160ms/75/7

All searching for Vodafone

I'm sure. Which is why I do a spread.
The best result is what counts. There are so many potential bottlenecks in the internet that if you can get a good result to anywhere, your isp is good, and bad results to other places indicate issues on the internet between your isp and that place.

I didn't? Well then, I'm sure you know I am not into piracy. News server? What you get from there?

Do some readup on TCP window scaling, basically this is what limits your throughput on higher latency networks. Also why your upload to higher latency would be so poor from a Windows based PC.

Now, taking your post at face value, this is something that needs to be mentioned.

You think a South African isp can guarantee that the line between Mauritius and the African mainland isn't saturated, for example?
Or the line between the Falkland Islands and Buenos Aires?

Oi! I don't need to be told by my ISP that I need to do some homework. And how do you know I have a windows based PC?

I didn't link to Mauritius. And I think that an intelligent ISP would inform their customers of potential limitations internationally, before they do tests and get a bad feeling about results. Simple farking customer-centric sense.
