I'm keen to get rid of the last remaining bit of Telkom infrastructure in my house - the land line. Who here is using the VOIP service from Cool Ideas? Or is there a better way?

Not really using CISPs voip. However you should do voip over landline. Better quality for far less money. Then again my household doesn't touch the house phone.

I use someone else, but I dont know if posting that on Coolidea's thread is the right thing to do :P

Pretty sure, their VOIP is as rock solid as their network :)

I am not sure what you mean with VOIP over landline :-)

Sorry, I tend to skimp out on my sentences... I mean rather take any company's VOIP over telkom's land line service. There is also the option to port the telkom number as well.

He probably mean, get a physical voip phone instead of wireless voip phone. The wireless voip phones are crazy expensive.

Yea wired phones are a lot cheaper, rather do that over the wireless.

Recently had a very poor experience with Cool Ideas accounts department.

I requested that my package be downgraded to 10/10 from 100/25 - I received confirmation from the Connect team that the downgrade would be effective 1 September. At around 6pm on 31 Aug I noticed that a planned upload of around 20GB was crawling, to find that my line had been downgraded a day before the date communicated to me. This was really inconvenient as the data uploading was critical.

To make matters worse, I was billed for a 100/25 package at R1009 on 1 September - I contacted the accounts team to let them know about the above early downgrade and the incorrect billing.

I then went on holiday for 2 weeks and didn't receive a response from Cool Ideas on the matter (I later discovered that I received an email with no body/text, and I had to check the response on the portal instead). I got back on the 20th to find that the matter had not been resolved, and that I had not been credited for the amount owing (even though CISP had been notified of it), and no effort was made to make up for the poor customer experience of having my line downgraded before the date communicated to me.

I'm pretty disappointed to be honest - had been recommending CISP to friends and family, but I think this experience has changed that.

Nothing from a network side, have you logged it so we can take it up with MFN?

I have no connectivity what so ever, just dead. Did log a ticket a few min ago. Benoni, Farrarmere.
