Nah, on Table View Fibre group on Facebook everybody on Octotel is moaning, Vox, Afrihost, CISP, you name it. Yet on Frogfoot in the same area no issues besides slower International than is to be expected.

I know this is a Cool Ideas thread.

Seeing lots of downtime on Cool Ideas

Openserve is going live in my area mid Feb ,

I need to choose a reliable ISP, suggestions welcome
 
Long time lurker.
Been with CISP and Vumatel Trenched around 2yrs in Cape Town since they started network build.
No downtime other than Eskom for more than a year.
Only issue was with congestion on Vumatel links between blocks during build phase.
CISP assisted CPT Vumatel by collection information from users and presenting case to Vumatel.
Line was upgraded once Vumatel saw evidence CISP collected.
Butter smooth internet since with CISP.
Don't let the vocal minority of moaners put you off CISP, got two directors of CISP on here helping users.

You in TBK? Same on my side. Never had any major issues with CISP or Vumatel CPT minus the congestion at the one point which they fixed very quickly.

How long was that, because it looks like these octotel people are going through the same thing?
Encouraging news on Vuma, that's who I'm blessed with soon (6 Feb).
 
Hi CI.
Logged a ticket via email CISP email support this morning at 9am but no reply yet. Operating hours says open weekends, 9-3pm?
This was after Thursday’s Waverley area fibre break, that your network status says is now resolved.However we still do not have any connectivity. My hardware and router all report as operating normally, except no WAN connectivity.Please can you escalate? Thanks.

I don't see people complaining as moaners. They are paying customers, and as a paying customer they deserve feedback when the service they are paying for isn't available or when they require reassurance that it is being addressed.

CW also had a director helping users on this forum. It will only last for so long.
 
Tonight both local and international is just terrible. Smells like 384kbps ADSL.
Youtube and even Netflix is buffering...

The thing is, I know one of the folks at CISP... and he's probably the smartest guy I have ever met in SA. So if he opens his mouth, I listen, I don't ask questions.
That's what makes it different.

Vox and all the others had their shills installed here, aside from a few exceptions.. those guys made their money and ran.

I don't know what the future holds but I will take my chances with CISP... Right now I am sitting tight with this crap internet. I am contemplating putting the account on hold until its sorted, because we need internet to be able to work here, and with these slow speeds, its an impossible task. In the past, as far as my experience with ISPs go, its always been the shady stuff that was throttled into the ground or didn't work. Now we sit, for the first time, with an ISP and legitimate business services don't work because the entire product has turned to custard.
