There is a vlan issue on some Vumatel customers in Cape Town, should be resolved shortly.
Would it not help and be pro-active and save yourselves a lot of support calls if you would put this bit of information on the network status updates page

Ive not felt this absolute level of ghosting until yesterday. Ive put in my cancellation for end of the month but at the same time I am not actively looking or on a mission to leave them just want them to get back on the ball so if they can do that I would reverse my cancellation request.

I hope you were sarcastic because you should know how much of a supporter through thick and thin I have been of CISP even when issues were not cleared up immediately at least they responded at some point in the day to the queries directly.

Ive pm'd you the static ip I am using, elsewhere earlier on yesterday I have also laid out the different routing that appears when using dhcp ip vs static ip that also makes no sense. Ive added the posts in pm.

You saw the cluster**** of problems happening yesterday right?

I always tend to think that people who respond like this have never been on the "other side of the desk" when it comes to service problems. I worked in retail for a few years and you could immediately tell when a customer had worked a service job and another hadn't, usually because people who had were reasonable in their response to problems, while more entitled people were not.

But maybe I'm wrong here.

This would fall under:
Cape Town - Cool Ideas

Cape Town POP scheduled upgrades.
Time: 27 March 04h00

We are upgrading core switching infrastructure at Teraco in Cape Town. During the upgrades, customers may lose connectivity for a few minutes. International and Local traffic will be intermittent.

Estimated duration: 90 minutes.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

It will now be marked as resolved. As it is.

Yes I saw that one - but without a status update one would assume that the issue is resolved and not still open 5 or 6 hours later - thanks anyway

Dont really think their network page is ever really updated when there is a issue, what would be really nice is if there is a problem etc and you on a certain network they could auto email all their clients to inform.

All in the pipeline, it's tricky with 30+ FNOs.

@TheRoDent please urgently read pm. you just managed to kill my fiber the complete opposite to apparently fixing any issue. just as i considered to stay you make matters infinitely worse, im at a loss of words.

edit: its fine again after you changed things back. if you want to test to fix something let me know without ripping things out that i pointed out already in pm is way worse.

Thank you both for helping us all individually on this group. I struggled for months with another ISP, and I never got this kind of assistance. I knew all along the problem Is with the FNO. Whatever they did to fix things it worked, since last night fibre is once again like it was in the beginning.

Can't agree more. Internet "feels" so much more responsive after last night.

Maybe they can answer me.
Why did it take so long for the upgrade? Was it hard to source the problem?.

Also does the hardware have software that alert you when switches reach their limit?

Just asking. I find this interesting.

Not exactly unless you build scripts into them

Things are definitely more responsive since last night's upgrade, and the packet loss hasn't returned yet.

For the last two weeks or so I'm unable to access my work email from my CISP connection unless I connect through a South African VPN first. Works fine on other networks and 4G though without having to connect via a VPN. Whatismyip.com shows me as in South Africa with IP address 155.93.x.x I'm on Openserve, CISP 100/50. Anyone have any idea why this may be?

I had this issue briefly yesterday where there was a redirect loop in the route to my mail server.

Can you check with mtr the result in routes to your mail server and see if it is possibly a similar issue.

@PBCool / @TheRoDent

Are there any issues on MFN - Centurion currently? getting massive packetloss to local and international! since around 4pm this afternoon. No traffic on line during these tests.

Only aware of Douglasdale and Lonehill issues at this stage.

I have seen a sharp dropoff in traffic just after 8pm on our NNI with MFN.

@TheRoDent Tonight is more of the same of the last 6 months for me.

Octotel 100/25

No idea why my upload is now odd as well.

So its back to being not usable. Your proxy no longer helps either. I'd be impressed if you can even tell when I turned it on.

If you're at all curious I borrowed a friend's VPN and it made no difference either, to twitch, to my throughput. Oh and I tried quickly switching my router out for your guys one and it too made no difference.
