Cool Ideas Fixed 5G/4G Feedback Thread

HI there, thank you for reaching out.
Unfortunately there is no coverage with us, due to us being 5G-Only.
Currently it seems there is 4G only available in the area

I believe Afrihost offers 4G on their network as packages, which may be why you see coverage on their website

Great news! it seems like VC own coverage maps sucks.

Thanks for letting us now, it could likely be that its a bit outdated, and perhaps they recently expanded their coverage in the area.

But glad you are able to get 5G :)
Yeah, thanks to you too! Its sad that this is what it takes when fibre is actually available but very unreliable. Now the parentals can do old people stuff online in peace (hopefully).

Afrihost has discontinued their Vodacom wireless service earlier this month, I hope this won’t impact or happen on the Cool Ideas side as well, have been very happy with the product.

I do know the service cost escalated a lot. But my package is being kept as the original until Dec 2027. After which, I will need to evaluate.

But I see now, it's completely removed from Afrihost website

We can sell it until the end of October and will be valid for the next 12 months, so they are enforcing the same.

Ah ok, I hope that in 12 months time Telkom will be an option with you guys as there is a Telkom tower very close to me, although it’s only LTE and not 5G yet, if we are forced to move away from Vodacom.

I need to always have some kind of backup connection for working from home.

Is that because Vodacom is running out of excess bandwidth and now need it for their own customers?

Sad news if we all have to move over to MTN. Maybe Comsol or Cell C might also become options in the next year.

Telkom is nearly ready as an option, and Comsol in the pipeline. So thats a plan.
