Cool Ideas VPN Server(s)

Have sorted out the capacity issue, but it's still limited/shared at 50Mbps overall for the trial period.

This is a limited trial for jhb-singapore, with the objective to get feedback from our gamers.

Obviously, with the pptp connection all traffic is going to be routed via it at the moment, so expect a shared 50Mbps cap between whomever is using the route at the moment. Don't speedtest it to death :) You might be lagging your fellows to death...

The point is not that this is a VPN service for full blown access at this point to Singapore, but a limited trial.

I'd appreciate feedback on that matchmaking, and latency etc.

Pings are fine but if i try do any sort of speedtest it seems hard capped at 1Mbps so things are very slow

Would appreciate some feedback, it's been quite pricey making this infrastructure happen.

Yea will test it tomorrow some time I just checked it this morning like at 7.30am for pings, I got loadshedding from 8 till 12:30 now so no gaming

@TheRoDent
Thanks for all the effort!

I tested it this morning and i get the exact same ping my brother gets with exitlag. It was rock solid between 129-131 ping in the practice range. I will test some more and leave feedback.

Ok so I've done some tests on various games and I can conclude that it's definitely solid 100% and it feels a lot better than yesterday now that it's on 10Mbps.

Games I tested:

- Apex Legends on Singapore servers - 138-148ms in game - no problems.

- Escape From Tarkov on Singapore servers - ~143ms in game - very smooth, no problems.

- New World, created a character on "AP-Southeast" which is based in Sydney - ~250ms in game - it's a bit more delayed than EU but that's to be expected at such latency, otherwise no problems.

There's definitely a lot more games out there that would also benefit from the VPN but these are the ones I know well so I can pretty confidently say they perform as expected.

It's really great because it opens up the whole Asia region for us to play on similar latencies as EU and there's just so many applications for this VPN.

Good job guys. :)

Been playing Apex for about 2 hours and its the smoothest experience ever, playing with a friend also on it and we both very impress, no packet loss nothing.

General browsing while waiting for games is even more smoother the likes of Twitter load so fast and everything runs (even at the limited speed) so much faster than EU

I tried to use it earlier for apex but it dropped the whole connection as soon as i started matchmaking. Exitlag to singapore worked, however there was some intermittent packetloss. I suspect packetloss to jhb was the culprit.

Funny you mention that my connection actually dropped twice now and the VPN disconnects when i connected back 280ms and VPN was off so yea something up.. It just happened now for me so got a 10 minute abandonment

Setup both servers yesterday, running super smooth.
--Singapore--

Battlebit-> Japan = 190ms
Rocketleague-> Singapore = 125ms
League-> Singapore = 125ms
Xbox UFC4 (P2P) ~ Avg 400+ms

--UK--

Battlebit-> EU = 175ms
Rocketleague-> EUW = 175ms
League-> EUW = 175ms
Xbox UFC4 (P2P) ~ Avg 200+ms

Not really playing anything currently on AWS so no real reason to use UK right now, will test again in the future but stability has been great on both servers:love:

Is Battlebit good and playable on the high ping? I have been looking to get it actually, looks like good fun

Defs worth a buy if you're into those types of games.
Playing on EU with 165ms I rarely notice the ping, however SA servers are coming sometime (hopefully soon) :)

Hi all, is this only the Singapore VPN?

VPN down? Can't connect and its my only way to game since EU is packet loss
Might want to chip in with a few guys and get a surfshark sub,you can get away with like R20pppm and swop VPNs to your heart's content
