Waterval Boven coverage

Hi

Anybody in Waterval Boven?

What's the coverage/speeds like there?

I have to go to site to do installations, but will stay overnight in Boven, and would like to know in advance if the speeds are OK (even if it's EDGE) or downright useless.

Regards

Whoooosh in Rustenburg

Good day,

I bought the Cell C black speed stick with 60Gb data package here in Rustenburg. They told me that it is currently running on edge but that faster speeds will be available soon.

I'm just opening this with the hope that someone will update this thread as soon as whooosh is supported in Rustenburg.

All the best,
Antonie

The Cell C shop in Rustenburg's Waterfall Mall keeps insisting a tower is imminent, but they've been promising that since December so don't hold your breath. Not that it's likely to reach those of us just out of town (in my case, Buffelspoort Dam) where we are still piggybacking on an appallingly-slow Vodacom GPRS signal.

Why did you get something that isn't "working" yet?

Al 3G options in RTB sux, used to live there. ADSL and Iburst is kinda your only options there.

I bought the modem and data with the idea that I can actually buy it before it is sold out and have to wait for stock and when they launch it, I'm set to go. They said at the latest by the end of Feb, not sure if that is true but lets hope they up the speed quick. I'm eager to start using it!

I can't even use ADSL or iBurst where I live.
There is no Telkom infrastructure in my area and no iBurst reception (very poor - 50%).
So my only option is Vodacom which works quite well but it is expensive.

Sounds exactly like my story and I bet many others. Except I would not touch iBurst even if I had 110% signal.

Stuck with Vodacom until I get Cell C reception (Castleview, Germiston, hint hint hint!)

To answer SharkBait's question as to why some of us bought 'something which is not working yet': we bought it because even at Cell C EDGE speeds which is all those of us in rural areas enjoy, the bargain-basement price was just too good to ignore. And on the promise while we manage with our slow-but-supercheap data, that the new Cell C infrastructure just might reach us in the fullness of time... If and when it does, it's a bonus.

Does anyone know when 4G will be available in Rustenburg, North-West?
I already have a black speed stick with the 60Gb package, just need the speed now, currently running on EDGE.

Cell C data coverage quality in Cape Peninsula?

Hi guys, I've checked the Cell C data coverage map but I just wanted to get first hand oppinions of anyone who is using the Cell C 3G network in or around the southern peninsula, specifically Fish Hoek, Kommetjie, Simons Town, Noordhoek, Sun Valley areas.

Please advise if the quality and speeds that you experience are decent and if you would recommend the Cell C network over MTN or Vodacom in the above mentioned areas.

Thanks in advance.

Hi "MX-JRDN"

Its good that you want to verify the coverage in your area before investing in a speed stick. Please PM or email your address or where you will be using the speedstick, to verify the coverage in that specific area.
If it is ok with you, we can also arrange a technician to come over your location and test the signal.

Kind Regards

Don't you think it is about time that Cell C invests in a decent coverage map? Now that Cell C has (hopefully) got rid of that clown Trevor get serious and act like a serious player in the market. Start by getting yourself a coverage map and a facility to buy once-off data bundles online.

(I couldn't find it in this thread, so here goes)

Anyone know how Cell C 3G coverage is in the Boksburg area -- specifically the Eveleigh area (next to the East Rand Mall)?

ADSL has failed. WiFi internet looks like it's gonna fail. Looking at 3G now (unfortunately).

Thanks

Cell C data thing in Parow?

Anyone using one of the Cell C R1,400 data bundle things in Parow?

Currently, my work internet access is seriously limited - and this month I've spent moth of my Vodacom R315 airtime + R300 topup on data... so I'd like an alternative to using my phone.

i have 3g in parow on my phone, so should work just fine in the area, dont have thing to test though.

This morning I see that there is HSD coverage for the first time in Oerder Park, over Jan Smuts from Blairgowrie. Don't fail me now, Cell C!

On the other hand, I won't have an excuse to go up the hill to Fournos anymore :) Choices, choices..
