Its not really about that though.
The point of these games are not to win, its to practice. And for Duminy to get a century is a good thing. He goes on tour as a reserve, the only chance he has to get into the team, is to impress his captain and coach in the games he does play. Same for Nel and Zondeki.
Its still first class cricket. The Bang A team has been in Eng for weeks now, and have even won some of the county games they played. For them its a huuuugeee game, they are playing against some of the best players in the world.
I know, however lance doesn't appear to.

It is actually funny that you mention that because just the other day someone was using this argument on me when we discussed Man U vs Chiefs. I was told that Chiefs would lift there game and play 110% as it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for those players. For Man U the game meant nothing and they would not give it all. It was used as an excuse for Man Us performance.
Now I appear to be having the same argument used on me but flipped on it's head. Seems this argument can be used in more than one way when it suits the arguer!
I am with you. A match is a match and it still has to be won. And if you can play convincingly then all the better.
I dont follow soccer at all. Have they played yet![]()
well, although I dont fully agree with everything Lance says, I dont see the point in mercurial's sarcastic "you know its only Bangladesh" comment either. so what if its only Bang, its a fookin practice game!! not a world cup![]()
End of over 45 (1 run) - India 159/6
VVS Laxman 19* (41b 3x4) BAW Mendis 18-3-58-1
A Kumble 1* (4b) M Muralitharan 15-3-38-4
Bad light stops play and it's the end of the day 3.
What an entertaining last session. Pure Magic. Great to watch. If Murali doesn't get you, Mendis will was Sri Lanka's cry during that phase. After Sehwag threw his wicket away, the spinners started to do the damage. Dravid was done in a beauty that landed on the middle and cut away to hit the outside half of the off stump. Gambhir was done in by the flight and then by the turn of Murali.
Then Tendulkar played Mendis well of the front foot and played Murali off the back foot. Not that he wasn't troubled. Once he tried to flick to the on side and got a leading edge and there were occasions where he picked him of the wicket.
Tendulkar's strategy was interesting against Mendis. He started stretching really forward trying to reach the pitch of the ball. And played couple of slog sweeps in between to make the bowler think. Mendis went around the stumps, tried hitting a shorter length which allowed Tendulkar to play him of the wicket. It was getting very interesting when Murali did him in with a ****ra from round the stumps.
Murali operated over the wickets at Ganguly, trying to trap him with a ****ra. There were couple of moments of trouble but Ganguly started pushing forward and tackled him well. He too started stretching forward and started to play well. He started doing the same against Mendis, taking care not to press his front leg across. So Mendis hit the leg and middle line and got it to skid on and cut in to try hitting the Ganguly's pad. It nearly worked in the 33rd over - he was actually caught right in front by a Mendis skidder but they thought it hit the bat first and didn't appeal. Fascinating contest, cut short by bad light.
The play resumed and Ganguly fell to a top edged sweep before Murali took out DK who went for a slog sweep. Laxman was trying his best to be positive against the spinners in the fading light but almost got out in the last ball before bad light intervened again.

Personally I think games against BANG A are a waste of time, what's the point? Are our boys not already playing enough cricket, internationally, domestically etc Why do they bother with arbitre fixtures against arbitre opposition, with all due respect to BANG A? Would the Springboks go and play a test match against Goergia A or Japan A? What does either team have to gain out of such a fixture?
But okay so they playing. I would expect SA to slaughter them just like the rugby Boks would and just like any world class team against an inferior opposition would but once again I reiterate, What's the point other than to humiliate??!!!
Fair emuff but considering the guys have already played 2 test matches and start the 3rd in less than a week I don't see the relevance of this fixture. Had they played it 2 weeks ago on arrival in England then perhaps but in the middle of a test series which is already well on the way? Doesn't make sense....AKAIK tour matches aren't supposed to have 1st class status anymore.
U can use 12 players - 11 on field only.
And a few other changes.
Just for warmup....

We just played Bangladesh in a test series, now we playing their 2nds in a warm up match? Go figure...
Nah, you reckon it's easier to get an international side from Bangladesh no less (other side of the world) than a local county side? You don't really believe that?!!! Those county okies would be queuing to have a bowl at us...Probably because it's a hassle to get a county team to play us, they'd rather stay at home.
