Tell me CW reps, how does it feel to have the quietest feedback thread on the forum? :D

As someone who is currently deciding between ISPs the dullness of this thread is a pretty powerful sales tool for CW's products. The other ISP on my shortlist is likely to be a fair bit cheaper than CW for my usage but, even though I'm a real cheapskate, I confess that the difference between the number of issues reported here vs other ISP's threads really is pushing me towards CW Home Premium Uncapped; that and the amazing level of connection that DJ maintains with his customers here.

All in all CW comes across as a pretty class act.

I've got the Premium uncapped (4Mbps) and I honestly can recommend it. If your line/exchange is in a decent state, it is unlikely that you would have any reason to complain. I had about two complaints in the last 6 months or so and in both instances it was determined that the problem was on my side, more specifically other computers on my network that were hogging the bandwidth.

Before I jump ship. Can any of you vouch on how soon do CW start throttling you on a 4MB uncapped premium account?

100GB?
250GB?
300GB?
400GB?

We don't throttle, we deprioritise. Once usage exceeds certain parameters we flag it for management. It then moves into 3 checks for priority management. None of these checks are usage based, but based on things like contention and average contention.

Based on the data, we typically apply dynamic shaping with no priority management for 4Mbps for overall usage under 200GBs. This, as I said, is not a hard coded number. It's based on peak usage, bandwidth throughout, contentions etc.

If you want an account to come home, switch on downloads and leave them until the next day, uncapped is not ideal unless you're happy with shaping on downloads. If you want all day every day performance with higher network priorities then capped is best...

So you guys start throttling at 200GB then I take it? Even on a "premium" package.

No. I'm trying to explicitly explain the process in my post. It's not hard coded, but the median is thereabouts. We also do not throttle...

What times of day do you use your connection? What's your average monthly usage? It's great for gaming, but is subjected to a transparent priority process on FAQ which is on each product page...

Any reason why my request for a line speed upgrade was closed? I'm still sitting with the same line speed and I don't see any explanation in the request :( - http://support.crystalweb.co.za/hc/en-us/requests/48708
I'm assuming you guys are still waiting for telkom or something? Shouldn't the request stay open until the line has been upgraded?
The ticket may close. When did you request it? We move line management and changes into our project management system separate to the ticketing desk which makes integration with other systems and providers far better. We use the ticketing desk to manage 1st tier support. We're also building an integration between the 1st tier and further tiered support systems at the moment...

In light of this, I want gaming to be not be shaped or prioritized at all. even though im at work during the day..
Looking at my average monthly usage with my current ISP, 50-75gb per month.

I am unsure of what you mean by "subjected to a transparent priority process on FAQ which is on each product page..."
Does that mean that gaming would be generally effected?

Looks like gaming and streaming is prioritised. So far I have been really impressed with the performance of the uncapped accounts.

Hi Ripstorm,

I can confirm that your order was submitted to Telkom, Not sure why they have not processed it yet however so I have sent a query off to them to find out what the hold up is - Could just require a push through manually from their side :)

Just got my email welcoming me to Crystal Web!

Only active from next month though. :(

DJ/CW-Support - Is that usual? I don't have a phone number yet so can't get things started but was assuming that once I could present you guys with my phone number it would be reasonably quick to get Line+Home-Premium-Uncapped-Data attached to it fairly quickly (within 2 weeks).

I understand that you're at the mercy of Telkom in terms of getting the line ADSL-enabled but had heard stories of that happening surprisingly quickly. Does Telkom response time tend to vary depending on the location/exchange? How is it for Cape Town CBD at the moment?

It was a deliberate choice. I'm on Afrihost until the end of month.
