Is there a coverage map available or is these offer only available in certain areas?

Vumatel's website has something that's a very, very poor man's version of a coverage map. Minus the map part. In any case, there's no coverage at all anywhere in Pretoria, so I guess you can't get it.

I WISH Telkom would start lowering line prices.

If you get one supplier in your area you are stuck with them. Geographical monopoly. Still better than not having it of course :)

Guess market saturation needs to mature a lot still before price competition can start kicking in.

IS must be having some throughput issues or something, WA and CW keep dying for about a minute to 2 minutes every 45 minutes or so. Other backbones are fine.

Yup, busy investigating major throughput drop on the Durban IPC links. Too early to tell which side is dropping the connections but I'm on it...

lol, you robot of a man .... ever vigilant. Maybe that storm from yesterday creating little gremlins in places.

Not limited to us nor the IS backbone by the way, so indicates an issue on Telkom's side perhaps with one of their IPC interconnect points...

I suspect a port issue or router problem right now on Openserve's side. One will hope they're carrying spares of all deployed infrastructure into their IPC Edge...

Question aimed at anyone -

If the DSL light on the router keeps going off every half hour ish but restarting the router brings it back, is that hardware or ISP or Telkom? Internet says it's an ISP link.

Typical, I spoke to them and they said your internet light is solid so it's not us ...... give me strength :(

Thanks.

Is anyone else not able to sign in to XboxLive or PSN recently? The consoles connect to the internet but won't sign in to their services... For instance, I'll do a connection test on the PS4 and it connects to my network fine, then it says the internet is good, but it always fails the PSN test, same story with the Xbox One.

Other devices are all working fine, Steam, Origin, etc., are all good. Microsoft support told me to contact my ISP because they might be "blocking it" or something. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem, there's no way it's a coincidence when both of them are doing it, they've always connected fine before.

Having odd issues with my line the last week or so. Line drops every 2 hours or so and it's not syncing at the right speeds. I've got a 4mb line, it always used to sync at 4mb, but according to my router, I'm syncing as follows:

Downstream Line Rate (Kbps): 2505
Upstream Line Rate (Kbps): 380

Which is not right. Any idea what's up?

EDIT: More info:

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin (dB): 59 204
Attenuation (dB): 500 302
Output Power (dBm): 0 127
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 2744 884
Rate (Kbps): 2505 380
D (interleaver depth): 8 1
Delay (msec): 6.6 1.13

The attainable rates sound off, as it used to be at 8mb/s and my line speed was at 4mb/s.

have you jumped onto support?

Interesting. Probably a coincidence but my 4Mbps line, which in the past has consistently synced at 4096kbps down (I never bother to look at the up), started syncing at 2048kbps this morning. In my case the round number (2K binary) makes me think that Telkom have reverted my line to 2Mbps even though I pay for 4Mbps so probably not the same issue as you.

I hope for your sake the line management is with CW and not Telkom. I've spent over half an hour on the phone to Telkom support so far and haven't really been able to get them past the "run a Google speed test. Is it still going slow?" point. I haven't been able to get them to understand that I'm capable of logging onto the router management page and can see exactly what speed it is synced at, namely 2048kbps, and this is what I need them to fix.

I'm in the process of migrating my ADSL line management to CW. I got the call from Telkom yesterday to confirm my instructions (a full 14 working days after my initial request). If Telkom stick to what they told me on yesterday's call then by this time next week I might finally have my line in the holding pool at which point it should be a short and painless step to get it picked up by CW. Sorry though CW, right now it looks as if you will be picking up the management of a line that already has a known issue on it but at least I'll then have people with the knowledge to sort things out.

Official Crystal Web ADSL performance feedback thread Part 3...

anyone else experiencing sluggish speeds on their CW account? I ran a speed test using a Afrihost test account and my CW account, see results below.

Torrents are also running up to crap on my CW account maxing out at 150KB/s while they run at full line speed on the same Afrihost test account.

Account type - home capped.
