Crystal Web ADSL performance feedback thread Part 3...

I'm a new subscriber with CW, got a home capped account for my 20Mbps line at the beginning of the month. Experience so far:

1. Streaming - All my anime & whatnot streams at 720p and 1080p 100% perfectly when i'm home (after business hours).
2. NNTP - Shaped to about 900Kbps between 17:00 and 00:00. Acceptable
3. NNTP - Shaped to about 1.5Mbps between 00:00 and 06:00. Also Acceptable.

All in all, a nice upgrade from Afrihost's 20Mbps uncapped. Significantly cheaper too.

Location - Cape town.

Welcome to the CW Fan Club.... like any ISP, you will have those that love it or hate it.... Either way, I am very happy with their products and service.... so enjoy ! :D

Oh yes indeed, however I've learned not to bother if I read about an issue that appears to be affecting multiple users as the answers are certainly not forthcoming when relying on the first line support staff to account for the issues.

Here's hoping tonight's experience is better with parts of the country being load-shed. :whistle:

That is very good NNTP speed. Assume its with a paid news provider and not the bundled one?

No seeing much over 200Kbps on the bundled one on my 20Mbps line - but I guess thats not too bad a speed for free.
 
Has anyone noticed slow P2P speeds, or is it just me, more specifically during the midnight hours on Home Capped accounts? Whenever I check, I'm getting about 5% of line speed during the midnight hours. It's about the same speed in daytime with the occasional spike to 25% of line speed. NNTP on the other hand runs at 100% of line speed during the midnight hours.
 
Well speeds returned back to full around 23:00 last night according to logs.

Download speed from 00:00 till 06:00 was also 100%

It is annoying that speeds are this effected so randomly.

Thanks for the feedback. Well then it's obviously on my side. Downloads are shaped during 6am to midnight so not concerned about those speeds.
 
one good thing with the bad service and rate limiting the lines, CW is loosing subscribers and not going to get new ones , cause of bad ratings , so if we can handle the bad ,all others will leave and services will pickup again .

Just how long can you handle this bad service before you jump ship to?

Not like there is any real other option/ISP at the moment. no WISP in my area and ****ty ADSL links , that i'm already at over MAX accourding to Telkom Techie.
 
Well I can confirm that the CW shaper is up to *****. I was now able to do the same amount of nntp data, 1.64GB, on the CW news server in 1 hr 15 min, than I had done between 12am and 6am this morning.
 
Still streaming 1080p with zero lag on my home capped (not youtube). Yes, my NNTP is from a paid provider. $10 a month is nothing for decent content. Got a 7GB torrent down in the window last night as well. no complaints this side.
 
Last few weeks have been brilliant on uncapped premium in Cape Town. Happy to see that the changes were effective!
 
Also on Home Capped in CPT.. did 24Gb 2 nights ago on NNTP between midnight and 6am.. cant really complain at the moment
