You a customer yet?

Was just stating NNTP is working well and giving an alternative if it helped.

Not yet, was about to hit the button today and take the plunge, but would rather stick to my IS uncapped account where torrents aren't shaped on a saturday.

Busy logging ticket. Apologies for not doing this first. Was reading the thread and saw the quoted post etc.
Ticket is now submitted. Will see how things progress before I post further.

They're going fine now on CW. Not sure what happened earlier. It's the first incident I've had on CW where performance was improved in some respect by changing ISP accounts. For all I know, stopping and starting the torrents without changing account would have had the same effect. I'll keep an eye on things though and be sure to involve support if I notice a trend.

Okay, good to know. Thanks for clearing things up. My blood pressure is coming down again, we won the rugby so that's helping too :)

How long does it take to activate an account?

F1 is in the morning, have I left it too late?

Wondering if this is the same query I have . Did yours suddenly increase?
Yip. And right below your post, there seems to be a conclusive answer. So without any notification at all, they increased some people's pricing.

Yeah I would say that's a pretty piss poor way of going about it.

So our earliest customers from a few years ago were on discounted pricing which involved in some cases some substantial discounts for particular subscriptions which considering the new pricing and discounts are well below our actual cost. We have maintained these discounts for a very long time now (below standard retail) as a thank you to our earliest supporters but it's not feasible to continue with, in some instances, R400/m discounts. I must admit, it is one thing we overlooked in communicating earlier in our notices for this group.

It is however something we have now spoken about internally and will see what we can do. I do believe that the new pricing is incredibly good value but we will evaluate internally to see what can be accommodated here.

Shaun has asked if you can drop him a personal message about this (I believe you have his details).

I also noticed the increase on my invoice today. Not happy that we weren't informed about the increase and on existing accounts.

CWM can you please indicate when you are going to release the info about the XTTH?

I know some people (actually my brother and a few people working with him) in NC that does not have access to ADSL and would like to get "fiber" like service to their area.

You guys are 100% correct and it really should have been better thought through on our part. On behalf of Crystal Web, please accept our apology about this. We are seeing what we can accommodate here for our earliest supporters as it is the right thing to do.

Can you give us until next week to officially communicate with you? Anything paid now, if there is a change, will be credited.

Sure, no problem.

BTW, go to sleep - it's almost Sunday morning

It's never "almost Sunday morning" for us. It's nearly always Monday morning and of late it's been 3am Monday morning for us every day. The SOs are never happy with us.

We'll be up for a while still. But know that we have listened to the feedback from some of the guys who were on custom discounts and we will absolutely see what we can do. There is a middle ground here that I feel is fair that we should find, and we sincerely apologise for not communicating this correctly. It was absolutely an oversight on our part and something we should never have communicated by an increased invoice amount. That is not right and we are the first (OK, maybe 3rd on MyBB) to accept that.

@Crystal Web Management, I'm seeing shaping on my account since 12 . Repeatable even after router reboot.

I can only assume something is wrong with the profiles. Will chat to support tomorrow.

I hope this isn't a direct result of cheaper packages.

No one can offer you a meaningful reply unless you substantiate your assertion that you've been subjected to shaping.

Unlikely. Capacity is no issue at all right now and this is the primary vector for any form of traffic shaping in a dynamic environment (which ours is), so very possibly something that we've overlooked or got wrong on our end and just need to update after some investigation. Definitely something we will monitor and investigate though as our forecasts have always been pretty good in terms of expected changes, volumes, capacity and so on and all data points to it being right so far.

What specifically are you seeing a slow-down on? In other words, what specific service or protocol? Please do send the details to support as well.

There are some changes coming in on the escalation front we hope you guys will appreciate, as well as better insight into lines and performance. It's something we've been working hard on for a while to optimise this process.

Well, @Phinix is based in CT and I'm in PE, and I'm definitely experiencing degraded service on CW for some reason.

I thought the torrents yesterday were an anomaly, but I just purchased FIFA 17 and the download speed was rubbish. Switched to Afrihost and it jumped up significantly:

Thanks for the feedback. Will do some testing today to see what's happening and if we can identify any issues we need to sort out for you. Thanks for the specifics. Please also report to support so any common denominators can be identified and we keep it all in the escalation channels. :)
