@Paul and @Zoidberg

My comments were simply a jibe at the naysayers and their comparison between OW and CW.

There's a myth about an ISP that arose to rid the masses of poor internet and at one stage they were the best before things went pear shaped (We talking OW here)
Now for some reason there are peeps that think the same will happen at CW. Bleh

I very much saw it in that vain and appreciate the jest - being a little cautious on making any comment on other ISPs though

Give up on Torrents, move to NNTP

Give up NNTP, move to HTTP.

There's no "torrent" element for the ISP by using a torrent to HTTP service. These's services are shaped (as they are treated as torrents, don't ask, we had a long discussion about how it isn't in another thread) by CW and I have no problem with the shaping during normal hours.

BUT the shaping doesn't release after hours, which is the time we're supposed to be downloading files at full speed. Having to wait a few hours for a 250mb file is a waste of my time and resources.

CW rep, why has this not been sorted out. I've been told multiple times it would be sorted out. Can I get an official response? Is that too much to ask?

Speeds are crap tonight here is Durbz btw, getting 50-70% on normal HTTP downloads from file sharing sites. Normally get line speed. Had line speed a couple hours ago in fact.

EDIT: home capped

My connection is horrible tonight! Can barely YouTube at 240p!
I was just starting to think that things are getting better, and now this happens

Also been getting lots of lag spikes in games, streaming has been timing out frequently as well. Thought my router needed a reset so did that and same issue.

getting so fscking tired of this now.

shaped/throttled to 2mb on a 4mb line.

I swear, ever since the IPC issues started, my internet has not been the same since. I don't care what Crystal Web say about the IPC, they still don't know whats going on.

And what makes it even worse is that the support agent who attended to my issue (him being the only one online), doesn't have the necessary skill set to sort this out.

I have been having slow internet speed for the last 2 nights in a row.
Getting between 512k and 4 meg speeds on my 10Meg line.
Tested with Telkom account and no issues at all but Crystal Web guy says I am the only one complaining and he can't do anything about it. They say everything is fine on their side, like the problem has to be on my side.
Asked them to cancel my account.

ja no problems with IPC capacity or general network matter so any problem is unique to a specific customer

I get 2Mbps or less on my Premium Home Uncapped 4Mbps. To top it all I have done 2GB until 3 am this morning. 2 flippen GB on day freaking one.

Just tested now as well, got no issues on a 4mb line Home Capped lined. Not saying that the others don't have issues, just saying that it's not all doom n gloom at CW: Speed Test

Far from it, in my experience with CW here in Durban anyway. Everything has been 100% since I signed up with them late last year. Went from uncapped to capped and it's still rocking.

I really only have one "major" issue. The only reason I say "major" is due the fact that I've reported it so many times and was told it will be fixed but nothing is ever done. Said issue is the "unshaping" of torrent to HTTP downloads during the download period on Home Capped.

I don't use the service often, but I expect full speed when I need to use it after hours. We were told that there's more than enough capacity for us to go all out 00:00-06:00. I would hardly call a few hundred MB download going all out, but that's not the point.

an I am sitting with this:

EDIT: Not blaming CW here, as I know this is telkom cause everything was fine 2 weeks ago and I see this on all accounts. Just saying some poeple are complaining about 300ms latency, just be happy it is only that high.

Still haven't heard anything from accounts. I bet I'm going to receive a "you must pay" email before my two week old ticket gets a response.
