Hi everyone

Is anyone else experiencing any issues with video streaming (YT/Twitch)? I do not know why but I can not seem to watch a video at 480p (on a 2mb line) without constant buffering? I had connection issues sometime earlier on in the week and requested to have a port reset done. This did fix my high latency but not the video streaming issues. If anyone can help, I will greatly appreciate it.

On a 4MB line and had the same problem. Netfilx broke SA's internet...
Or is it that the ISP scraped by and now have to run to get capacity?

Not even remotely on our side. We have no issues with capacity, and any problems we find are isolated Telkom line issues at the moment or occasional DNS issues...

This unfortunately is why I will eventually be forced to leave Crystal Web

Due to something out of their control? You'll find the same problem at other ISP's. Your only option is to go fibre if you want to prevent that.

We see a lot of discontent from people about the new way Telkom are managing sync speeds. I do believe that the ultimate goal is positive from their side but it's in essence a POC on their entire customer base. My suggestion is to grin and bear it for now, as there are a lot of developments in the pipeline from ours, Telkom's, and a few other players' perspectives.

I think the best advice I can provide for now is do NOT sign 24 month contracts just yet for anything for home use...

Not pointing at any ISP. My CW account runs like a dream, no problem there, but to get it to work on Telkom's outdated & faulty equipment in my area is a pain. Fiber will never be an option here, Telkom can't even provide 4meg on a 10meg enabled exchange here.

Agreed on the contracts. I really hope Telkom brings alot of expansion of newer technology to the table. That's what's needed, and not just in the metro areas.

Telkom are not the only ones rolling out fibre these days...;)

I don't like signing 24 month contracts, not even if they (Telkom) give you a free wifi enabled ADSL router to sweeten the deal :D.

I believe that Telkom has dropped the 24 month contract requirement.

Source for this is I signed said contract last year July, but it was terminated in November and went over to month to month.

Noob at this, so forgive me if the questions are obvious:
1. How long from sign up to activation - is it area dependant?
2. Any particular specials for MYBB users?

Thanks. Want to avoid Telcom like the plague.....

You will require an active Telkom DSL line to use our services (for now).
There are no MyBB specials because MyBB will not allow Crystal Web to advertise on their platform. We want to launch specials for MyBB users though, but until we're allowed to do so, they remain an elusive pipedream for you guys and for us...

Thanks DJ. Will sign up via website. Bummer on the specials - Looks like the community is the biggest loser here.

I'm seeing a lot of page load errors today with different websites. Some content isn't showing up, while Telkom's page this morning was erroring out with bad gateway errors frequently. Is anything going on that might be causing this?

I'm talking to the DNS guys at the moment about this as it's related to it. I have a meeting with them later today to discuss further as well, but bottom line, if it continues, as usual, we'll simply do it ourselves as I've also identified DNS errors of late. I know there's a plan to resolve this though but we do have backup plans for everything.

It's not a major problem at the moment, more an annoyance if the DNS has issues on occasion, but it's enough to have me working on it to resolve either way...
