TO LONDON SERVER...NOT LOOKING GOOD ON 40MBPS VDSL LINE

Download Speed: 18350 kbps (2293.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2917 kbps (364.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 235 ms
Jitter: 4 ms

This is the exact same speedtest that you posted in the Afrihost feedback thread (exact same timestamp and stats), so I'm a little confused as to who this is intended for...

Download Speed: 37594 kbps (4699.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 2854 kbps (356.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 234 ms
Jitter: 1 ms

international latency should be sub 200ms

Entirely depends on the location of the speedtest server you're hitting. It hits London peering and may bounce between servers in London depending on the location of the server itself. That latency and speed looks pretty damn good...

I should point out that there is a failure on one of the international cables at the moment but all traffic has been re-routed over redundant links for now...

Mod note: Please clarify what you expect the ISP to do here. Also explain where you can consistently get sub 200ms latency to an US/Europe site on a DSL connection in South Africa?

If you are a CW client, please contact their service centre as well.

well i know i always get 190ms when running the speedtest...must be that failure on e of the international cables...

Hmmm, I have higher attenuation and lower SNR margin but I get 4mb on my line.

50dB attenuation is VERY high. It's already borderline stable and unlikely to be.

Also remember that as you increase speed, your stats decrease. So your stats are stable at the current sync rates, but lower it to 2Mbps and your stats will be better. Hence why Telkom are trialling automated line sync systems now to try to account for this, albeit it's not been much of a resounding success to date. When they decrease your sync, your stats return to better levels and results in fewer issues. In short, it's a system that decreases your speed so they don't have to attend to as many fault reports. End users are, in essence, subsidising the Telkom infrastructure and repair investment budget with their lower speeds...

Well perhaps I'm lucky then!

Cos my Att is at 55.6 and SNR at about 12.

Was getting around 3.5mb before this Telkom DSM thing. Now getting between 3.8-4mb.

anyone's internet also dead slow? International is almost completely dead.

anyone's internet also dead slow? International is almost completely dead.

Major pressure added now with all other ISP and our redundnancy going over the same links. We also see Google and Cloudfare issues at the moment on their end, which is causing some slower speeds...

Just got notice that Seacom has problems now as well. So switching to other redundant links as well.

With both WACs and Seacom down, we'll see higher latencies and slower speeds on the redundant pipes left. Will update ETAs as I can...

So I rebooted my router and boom line not authenticating. Try to access help desk and boom CW help desk is down :/. Website says all is normal... Maybe I just have bad luck with your help desk...

You guys MUST please select the correct department when dealing with the desk. It's different people manning billing, sales, and support. So if you chose billing, then yes they are offline at the moment, whereas support are certainly not and are available...

I don't get a chance to select which dept because zoop or whatever it is called can't be accessed because of the international issue. Sent a support ticket instead.

Our network notices have been updated so if you are subscribed to our notice-board, you would have received a detailed update.

See my problem? To investigate in the future maybe the help desk should be hosted locally? Or I don't know bring the friggin phone number back... 26 minutes and still no one has touched my ticket. I get you are busy with this International issue but I have been having this problem for some time now, the last time I was told that you guys need to diagnose the line before you can log a call with Telkom. Now I want the line diagnosed but it can't be done... *sigh*

*edit* Next time don't assume that I am selecting the wrong dept. I very nearly posted a comment that would have seen me banned because of that assumption...
