Is this working now? Last night's issue in the south is described by DJ here and also on the network incident listing as YouTube related so would it have explained FilmOn issues?

I also had problems last night where my usual Ruya-based streaming was constantly going into slow-mo, buffering and freezing so I tried dropping down to SD Ruya streams and also free FilmOn as well which is my backup option. Everything I tried was the same (buffer, freeze, slow-mo, frame-drops) even though speedtest was showing me getting a consistent 3.45Mbps download speed on my 4Mbps premium uncapped account. It wasn't possible to contact support because it was 1:00am. If the problem persists then I suppose I need to take time out during the day to test and report when support is online. I did also try Google DNS servers.

I'll test it tonight. After setting the Google DNS servers, I got stuck on the PC for the rest of the evening, didn't stream on the telly at all.

Just out of curiosity: Do my downloads between 00:00 and 06:00 (torrenting Linux Distro's of course) count towards determining whether or not I am a "very heavy uncapped user" ?

DJ...

Your support staff are awesome, thanks for your great support.

DJ...

I demand that you tell your support minions that it is unprofessional to call your customer a k**t

:D:D:D

This could be interpreted publicly in a rather eyebrow-raising manner. Even I'm not 100% clued up on the context here.

I know it's just messing about a bit but I'm not convinced others will necessarily realise that.

We have however decided to change your internal name on our systems to OMC, having been informd by staff the context of the above post...:D

We discount the midnight to 6am usage from these calculations...

Chatting to support now, but getting massive packet loss on my connection in Cape Town.

Edit: Nvm. It was one set of game servers. All my other games are fine.

Nothing cropping up our side on the network so my gut says line related unless the guys indicate otherwise. Remember if support aren't able to resolve it I'm always here by PM to assist, but there's so far been only a handful of such issues...

Yeah. It's isolated to one game so definitely not your side.

If it's a single game perhaps we're not identifying it correctly? It can happen.

Best to follow support processes and if they identify it as localised on our end they'll escalate it to be monitored and resolved on our side. If not and it's server side then that's unfortunately not something we can necessarily resolve...

Lots of praise in this thread... I'll keep quiet then to not spoil it...

:D but to be fair it's not a CW problem I'm having

:(
Yeah yours is ASSIA line sync related from what I can recall. I know our guys have been doing their utmost in cases like these to help, but we can only occasionally override the machine, and even then it's temporary...

Yeh well. Report it because it only sync's at 6... Then Telkom fixes it by letting it sync at 3 with intermittent disconnect!

I've now been using Crystal Web's services for roughly 2 weeks and I have nothing to complain about. It just works, which is the way it should be.

As to the price of the Crystal Web service I'm using... Yes, it's marginally more expensive than the 10 other South African discount ISPs, but it's also so much better. If a slightly higher price than the bottom tier ISP is what's needed to deliver a great internet connectivity product, then I'm more than happy to pay it and would much prefer to retain the high quality than to save 20 rand per month.

In other words: The price is fine and fair as it is. Don't lower it.

Wanted to get some advice.

In the past sixteen hours that my modem has been online it shows 'CRC Down - 16'.

Is this anything to worry about or get checked out, or is it an insignificant number?

To be honest... really starting to regret upgrading my Telkom line, dropping Webafrica and moving over to Crystalweb. On my 4Meg line, torrents are peaking at 130kb/sec, Speedtest shows my download speed to be between 2.5 and 3.2 Mbps. My streaming on the 4Meg line is worse than it was on the 2Meg.

I know I'm only on the Home Basic Uncapped, but still. Really frustrated.

Have you contacted support?

Anyone else getting serious hang time and slow loading on a range of sites? Youtube is streaming ok for the most part and download speed is normal.
