I smell drama!

It's been a few weeks since I needed it, but I must say that the online chat support is really great. My experience with other ISP's support has been terrible, and that's actually the reason I'm on Mybroadband at all - to pester my previous ISPs' representatives to get things fixed. However, with Crystal Web the support staff is actually helpful. The online/text part is also really helpful as I can only use voice on my mobile phone if I go outside the house and the telephone part of my landline is always broken (and Telkom refuses to fix it).

The standard (IS) server has low retention and NexGenNews much higher (close to 1000 days).

So yeah it can be used like that IF you only download very recent posts that exist in both servers.

Practically I have found 80% of my downloads are not in IS server at all and using NextGen alone gives lots of failures.

Adding a backup will improve things a lot. In my case I also added a secondary primary (cheaper rate limited one) and now about 95% of what I download completes.

Sadly getting good completion with UseNet has gotten a bit harder in the past year of so as takedown systems have been improved and automated. I would really recommend either 2 primaries and 1 block or 1 primary and 2 blocks. Which will be cheaper depends on how much you download. See r/usenet on Reddit for up to date recommendations on that.

Wait, what? Why do I always miss the drama :confused: . So is Mybb finally confirming that they are an OpenWeb mouthpiece?

@DJ... is KZN finally sorted out with regards to the network upgrade or are you still waiting on contractors?

(Servers must be getting hit hard from the sale. Downloads half speed for a minute then dies for a minute, rinse repeat.)

Yeah that's not on our end I'm afraid.

I checked with netops and they say you can't have it all on this occasion, sorry...:D

This CrystalWeb e-mail that has gone out about the compromised accounts, is this legit? I have difficulty believing they are so as they seem rather... unprofessional? The new passwords I was given scream of a scam or some sort of phish; they are fairly odd and have several invectives and obscenities in them :P Sure nothing CrystalWeb side has been compromised?

Just wanted to make sure.
