Official Crystal Web ADSL performance feedback thread Part 3...

Many Youtube videos have struggled to buffer past the first few seconds for me. The few speed tests I've done to check if the bandwidth is being used by the family have shown full 40Mbps. Anyone else having Youtube issues?

Had a few intermittent YouTube issues last night but not enough to even warrant a chat to support.

No issues tonight.

I am having issues with YT from around the time they changed all our passwords ... ... I have full line speed in everything except YT.

I only get like 2.5mbps throughput if I am lucky

Yip, same here.

Anyone else having issues logging in with last pass at the moment?

Not working for me either. Had issues two nights ago as well using the Android app. Extremely annoying when you need it.

Damn. Was hoping the problem was localized to my setup. Hope LastPass sorts out the problem quickly.

Twitch streaming has been terrible for a while now. 40Mbps should easily manage source quality, but it buffers every 10-20 seconds. And usually without fail, Twitch streams will completely lock up after a little while.

Think there was an issue at Telehouse, London. Not sure if fully resolved yet.

Telehouse has had issues for quite a while if they're to blame...

Telehouse is just a hosting facility. Many ISPs have pops/peering points hosted there. So not a telehouse issue, an issue at telehouse ;)

I've mentioned it before somewhere in the thread, but you can use the IS portal to check your usage: http://users.isdsl.net/

Just log in with your Crystal Web details. It doesn't break it up between after hours and normal hours usage, but you can export the data to Excel, and you can calculate it pretty close to the actual splits from there.

The Youtube and Twitch issues are seriously annoying. Was rather hoping they'd have been dealt with by now.

Maybe an odd question guys but hopefully some of you can add some input.

I'm on a 4MB Uncapped Premium right now and never had an option to change that as my line was limited to 4MB only.

Now we are finally 40MB VDSL capable...but that costs a fortune.

So my thinking is to maybe upgrade the line to 10MB but downgrade the package to Basic Uncapped as that makes it affordable.

Would the extra 6MB out perform the lesser Uncapped?

And also how does the "basic" part work exactly? Is is the exact same bandwidth UNTIL you get throttled and then goes to crap? Or is it crap from the start? Never dealt with this star rating stuff before.

Rather go high-cap with uncapped afterhours, then you get the full 40mb.

Nah this would be 10mb only.

Okay, then to answer your question.

The star rating would start off awesome, then depending on your usage over 10 days, your stars would slowly drop.

If you use your account during office hours then I wouldn't recommend this as it's still a shaped account and does get shaped during the day (poor streaming sometimes on YT, IMDB etc) no matter what star you're on, which kinda makes the stars meaningless to me, but after 5pm it's the best account ever, even on 1 star, I can't tell the difference, line speed on everything.
