Current Speed on MWEB Uncapped 4096 ADSL :(

I tried removing the dsl from the username, but I keep on getting the landingpage of mweb that says I should change my username to include the dsl... Anyone else getting this too?

And why does removing the dsl work for certain people but not for me?

Doesn't work for me either. I think when seacom went down they gave us all 30gigs on saix to use but I used all my 30gigs already.

I have been getting really bad download speeds on my MWEB 4Mbps uncapped account recently. Read about removing the dsl part from my username in this thread. I tried this and the speeds are much better. @MWEB Ops, who can I contact at MWEB to verify that I can use the username without the dsl part. I called your call centre and they know nothing about this or anything about IPC capacity problems.

Hi Yagan,

Please Pm me your details and I'll assist you with your query

Aaaaargh. Whole day my Mweb uncapped 4mbps has fluctuated between working (2-5% of the time) and not. When I say not, any site which isn't mweb.co.za, telkomsa.net or saix.net takes about 3 minutes to open the page, local or international. FTP seems to work fine to IS boxes and email is generally OK, but downstream http is just dying, so i can write webpages, but can't test them on server. Will call Telkom / Mweb in the morning. Have line with Telkom and ISP is Mweb. I hope this doesn't carry on much longer... :(

when i switched from afrihost to mweb i had a email acount only which i converted to adsl uncapped the never told me to append 'dsl' to the mweb.co.za. So i would say its safe.

mines is sucking as well... cant even get more than 20k/sec... also hit the landing page on @mweb.co.za so have to use @dslmweb.co.za to get an internet connection. Messaged mweb operations, says he will put through the request, doesn't provide any ETA on turn around tho, or even say if they will turn around. Anyways, if this continues i will cancel with mweb at the end of the month. Uncapped express works out way better, cos its as **** at mweb is currently during the day, but it goes way better in the evenings.

At this moment I'm downloading a file from microsoft.com (a Outlook update) @ 4.3 - 6.9kb/s.

Time remaining for the 12MB file is 30 minutes. Is that correct?

Is this what shaping/protocol prioritizing is all about on MWEB Uncapped 4096k at 10:24am on a Wednesday Morning?

And this is a constant occurrence. Typically everyday. Please assist.

Greatly Appreciated.

isnt that bout the time everyone in the country is checking their emails, the oil price, stock prices etc?

yip ihad wonderfull speeds until i was told to put the dsl in front of my username, also glad i cancelled with these bunch of rip offs. I really do not mind shaping but 24/7 is not on.

Try changing your username from [email protected] to [email protected]. I was given this advice by MWEB yesterday and my latency and speed improved dramatically.

interesting, i want to speak to the same person so i can get told by them, then retain that as proof if they want to ban my account for "bypassing their shaping"

I was just told the same thing- speed went up from 40KB/s to 420KB/s - the guy didn't even ask for my username - I was still enquiring as to why they need my username and what they're going to change - considering a few users are reporting the same thing.

i keep getting a damn landing page...

Restart your router...

I did that, still get the landing page...

Called mweb now and after 20 mins, someone picked up... as bad as telkom now... told her internet is slow ever since i had to switch to dslmweb, and she says thats the service. Told her it clocks 1.8Mbps on speedtest and she says that due to the shaping. So http is shaped. Youtube is shaped, downloads are shaped... so they are claiming to sell 4mbit uncapped, but its actually, 1.something odd Mbps... Anyone know of any other ISPS out there that I can try ? Openweb gold is just an mweb account, dont let Keoma fool you into thinking otherwise.

Maybe @mweb.co.za only works once they've told you to do it? Maybe MWEB can respond.
