Ive bought 95% of games that I pirated, exceptions being ones that dont run well with current tech (win10), games that Ive owned on PS3, ones that arnt available flat out and overpriced games. When i say over priced im talking about flight simulator 2020/forza, not paying R1900 for that.

Sure.

I am not helping anyone, but punting a cracked version when a clean GOG install is available is the informed decision and if crying over its size, get a repack, and it is not if all of FitGirl's repacks are clean either. I am not the one committed to piracy, neither the one with the broken moral compass. If you want a pure copy, purchase the game. Simple really.

Neither is CDPR bitching about piracy, all they want out is grey key market sellers.
Sure

So, when you think a game is overpriced, you just steal it.

Which is a third-party DRM in any case for account association and SteamWorks integration.
In any case the Fitgirl repack seems to include a way to convert between GOG and Steam. I assume she didn't want to bet on which version will be supported so she made a way to convert back and forth.

CD Projekt RED co-founder talks fighting videogame piracy with kindness

Marcin Iwiński, co-founder of GOG and development studio CD Projekt RED,spoke late last month at infoShare 2016 about the issue of piracy and how the company tackles the problem.

“We released [The Witcher 3] without any copy protection,” Iwiński says, via Kotaku. “So, on day one, you could download the game from GOG, and give it to a friend (enemy as well)… and still we sold near to ten-million units across all three platforms. But the piracy factor was irrelevant, because we cannot force people to buy things. We can only convince them to do it.

“We totally believe in the carrot, not in the stick… I’ve seen many times, comments [that say] ‘Hey, I couldn’t afford the game when it was full price, but these guys are so fair, and they were never against us. They were always trying to do good, add a lot of value, give free DLC, give free content, that I bought the game from them when it was mid-price.’

“[In] lower income countries, people just cannot afford a $50 game. So maybe our price-point offering in a certain country wasn’t right. For example, we have lower prices in Russia. And there is many cases like that.”

Iwiński says they’d rather convince people to buy the game if they can afford it. Obviously CD Projekt RED don’t like it when someone steals their game, but they would rather get people on their side than put them in jail. They’ve found that this approach has led to people on forums chastising anyone who’s looking for a torrent of the game.

“Funnily enough, the more we proceed this way, the more we see them again on forums and Reddit and whatnot, we see that there is a guy saying ‘hey where can I download Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from?’ And then there is 10 people bashing them, ‘Oh you ****o, do not download the game. These guys are fair, they’re the only fair guys in the industry. You should go and buy it’,”Iwiński continues.

“And so, I’m not sure if this guy will buy it or find this link, but still, it’s a very positive attitude and it’s excellent word of mouth.”

And if you look at it, it was folks "bashing" people to not be pirates.

And that was W3, not this game.

Bashing... it came from former 'pirates' turned consumers, CDPR's objective for combating piracy is to engage in converting pirates into consumers,

No, that was CDPR and the last time I checked they are still CDPR. Like the previous The Witcher games, CP2077 was also released without piracy protection, or digital rights management to be apt, well, that is how the market perceive it, obviously CDPR owns the digital rights for licensing and distribution, but they handle it differently from a commercial aspect.

This thread has been derailed to hell and back. Can we just agree to disagree and move on? If publishers want to be greedy and charge R1900 for a game then that is their own damn fault and must not cry when people are pirating it.

How the hell can a high schooler honestly afford to pay for FS2020 and other new games?

Keep in mind forza horizon 4 hasn't droped a dime since releasing in September 2018. Justified?

All of MS's games can be played with Game Pass for R100 a month.

When it gets 100% fixed in a few months would I buy it for R799? Yes!
I'm waiting for a steam sale. No game is worth R600+ imo. Plus by the time I'm getting it most major bugs should be fixed

The same way you would afford anything else in life?
Save up?
Get a job?
Wait for a sale?
Patience?

But 'tis is good; some people just need a handout in life -South Africa.

Or "R50" p/m if you do the deal by converting xbox live gold.

Waiting is not an option for the now-generation nor is learning to make their own sourdough starter from scratch. haha.

In this case, it's a pity the game is so bugged on release. It's nice that CDPR aren't using DRM and they should be supported for that. If you enjoy the game and can afford it, consider buying it next year when everything's fixed.
Indeed. Try the game first and if you are going to play it then purchase it. Same concept as when games used to have demos like with NAG magazine. Anyway I've already purchased it on Steam.

Big warning for those who are planning on getting this for their PS4 or Xbox One. Do not. The game is a complete mess on those consoles and CDPR deliberately hid this from everyone to get more sales.
