Discovery Vitality 2020

Those on discovery... Quick q:
Do you feel you would be penalised for having your own home gym?
Do Discovery penalise you for being sedentary while recovering from flu or other illness?
No points is no points really. They don't care where you workout as long as you workout. If you sick, jammer of van jou kak te hoor.

Injuries and **** that will have you laid up for a while you can get in touch with you medical stuff and what not and they can either suspend the weekly goals or temporarily decrease them, but for something like a flu, suck it up buttercup, they won't care.

Status is on annual goals, I have been on diamond for years, I could give 2 shits about the weekly. Sick is sick.

Would it work on the new rules?
I saw nothing that changes that, the new rules simply nean u can get to diamond in 1 year instead of 3. Annual and weekly goals have always been mutually exclusive, the biggest changes are to the "free" points from health check, HIV for example goes from 5k to 1k and the health assessment got stricter.

I'm probably misunderstanding the Discovery lingo...

So this drive status is independent to health then I guess?

Yeah, it's money, drive and health all under the Vitality banner. Each of them have their own statuses and means of getting them.

Drive is drive well and don't do more than 500km a month basically.
Health is train yourself into your grave and risk more injury doing it.money is, move you banking over to us and and get bigger discounts at places.

You must be doing it wrong ! Doing it correctly has the exact opposite effect.
If you follow discoveries requirements and are not an athlete like most people you actually increase your risk of 0hysical injury and fatigue based sickness, so sure you improving heart health. Like speak to any physio, bio or doctor and they will tell you that the Vitality fitness requirements are more dangerous for the majority.

When I started running I injured myself until I eventually found out my form was wrong, shin splints on numerous occasions, rolled 1 and sprained the other ankle, all for vitality points.

Now that I could care less about the points I am fitter, healthier, get sick less, have not been injured in ages and at the end of the year I still get my diamond status.

Look at that woman that had a whole rant on social media about vitality bragging about how utterly moronic she was going to the gym even with the flu for her vitality points. So for the points she actively out of her wat to not only make herself sicker, but to make others sick, all for ****ing smoothie...

The requirements are very easy since if you don't want to work out hard you don't have to. You just need to go to the gym and you can do absolutely nothing if you want to. The only time it will start to get hard is when you need to hit 600+ points a week. It takes several months to hit that stage though. I don't bother with the weekly reward once it goes above 600 points. I just take a month or so break and wait for it to drop back down to 500.

It's still easy 1 park run and 6x 5000 steps is 600.

Park run is tough as you have to wake up early and 5km is tough for many. I usually only do the park run when on holiday and I don't have access to a gym. I get a lot of my points from just going to buy supper from the gym Kauai. Yeah I'm lazy but I'm on Diamond.

You cannot blame Discovery for your own stupidity. Not referring to you, but generally . No one is forcing you to do x, y or z, those decision are not made by Discovery , but by the individual involved. Blaming someone else is a copout.

That chick going to gym with the flu, definitely, but vitality is a really good motivator off the couch, but in many cases without some prefessi9nal help, early on it can do more harm than good and that harm can last a long time if its in the joints. It's over 2 years later my right ankle is still gives me trouble.

Does vitality put a gun to people’s heads and force them to do the wrong things? I think everyone here can take responsibility for their own actions. I fail to see how Vitality is at fault here.

What world do you live in where a gun is the only way to get people to do things they shouldn't... I wanna move there.

The world we live in currently :) Anyway just came here to say take responsibility for your actions. At the end of the day you made the decision to perform that action. Or you can live in denial and pass the buck, that also works.

If it’s wrong to go gym while you sick. Will it make it better if you have a buddy system for a friend to do a park run for you?

The purpose of Vitality is to motivate people to get active. If you get hurt while being active you cannot blame someone else. Lets try this, would you blame your work if you are in car accident on your way to work?

So try this on...
I did the shoe booster, and am now on the hook to meet goals for the next 12 mths. Shoes cost around 2400 I think. And I’m a runner, so it’s all good. Am training a few times week etc.
saw today at the ASICS shop at access park in kenilworth, the previous years model shoes (of my shoes) for 1350, and then a further 20% off for today. And 10% off your first purchase if you join their club. I’d have bought a pair but they didn’t have my size in the 2E. Need to keep an eye on that store. Way better than having to run or get points though sickness and rain if I want the cashback each month!

200/300 points are from heart rate level at 60/70%. For 30/60mins

300 points for aPark run
50/100 points. 5000/10000 steps
100 points gym visit

5000 steps & 60-69% HR/30m have a shared limit.. ie when you max out the one, the other is maxed out too
