I have a weird psychological thing with noise. I don't know why I hate voice notes so much, but I'm guessing it's to do with the fact that I have to unmute stuff to listen to it.

How did you cope with Baxteen's grunting?

Another reason why Telegram is great:

I absolutely hate voice notes, and many clients love sending them - I have and plan to never send a single one.

Had one send me a 2 minute one, then after an hour (he saw I'm online), he said, are you ignoring me?
I said yes - I ignore voice notes until I'm at my office and can actually listen to them. I'm not going to sit at a client and listen to someone else's voicenotes.

Text me and I can get back to you asap. Voicenote and wait at the bottom of the list.
I disrespect the disrespect shown of a long ass voicenote, which so many times could've been a simple one-liner text.
Most ridiculous is people who literally sends a voicenote "ok" and "thanks". Worst forsure is the 2-6 minute ones.

Voice notes are great. I have comms with people in Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, CAR, Mozambique, etc. Sometimes they have signal, sometimes not. Great to cram a lot of info into a note of 30 seconds and then they receive when they have signal and reply. Play on 2x speed and a lot of information can be passed.

I'm too busy to sit and type the crap out on a phone. Whatapp on my laptop is different. Notes should be succinct. No waffling.

Then those people get to turn your voice notes into a to do list at their own leisure.
Great way to pass the buck and save a few seconds of your time.

Was busy typing out something similar. Just because you're too busy to type it out, doesn't mean the receiver's time isn't being wasted. Missed a piece of information? Great now I have to rewind the thing and wait for you to get to the point again.

It's extremely disrespectful of the recipient's time and environment. Not everyone can listen to it everywhere, but most times they can read it...

Occasionally send/receive them, fine with it if people understand that I might not listen today or tomorrow, might be a couple of days later.
It adds the emotion while speaking, so it's always important regarding topic, also if people are busy driving/walking, don't mind.
If it's something I'd need to re-listen to later, it's a no, needs to be text so can search it again.

Telegram I made a bot for voice to text, so have a couple of friends in 2 man + bot group where it just auto attempts to transcribe, so know content of it (it's not always super accurate, should probably update the language model, stuff has improved a lot over the last few years).

Oh wait, you are all using mobiles for business. Yeah that’s not going to happen, but friends, no problem.

I think you misunderstand. This is literally primary communication when I can't speak to my guys. They are often on plants and we are doing remote optimisation. I'll have dozens of communications like this in a day sometimes. If we had to type it all out to each other they'd still be on a plant we commissioned two plants ago.

And if you can't remember the info from a 30 second message for a couple minutes, you're not going to be working for me.

Edit: Time is money.

I typically hate receiving voice notes. In all-day meetings you cannot listen to them without disturbing others. Neither in noisy environment, when you just cannot hear them.

I hate when a voice note starts out with: 'Sorry for the voice note, but...". FFS

Misophonia is a real thing. I have it. I am glad it's finally recognised and that I'm not just a ****. Well, I am a ****, but this issue I have with certain noises is real, not me being a ****.

Voice or text, if i've sent 4mins of voice or 20 lines of text and i get back "ok" i want to go there and strangle them with the pain i'm feeling inside at not getting a proper answer.

I know someone whose girlfriends (current and past) send voice notes and he listens to it all day long. He puts it on 2x speed because they talk so much. And he does the same back. I have 0 interest in all of this
