Actually spoke to a petrol attendant recently, a number of customers add it to their card swipe and the attendant then get's the "change"

the garages i fill up usually give a free 2L or 1.5 liter if over R500, I usually use this as a tip.

I only tip on a friendly attitude the Attendant has after he/she has performed not just filling my tank but their usual checks they would like to undertake, tyre pressures, windscreen etc.

No, check oil, water, air pressure and washing the windscreen is IMO part of the job and service.

Yes I do and I am probably over generous and a bit of a bleeding heart. I don’t tip less than R50.00 when I fill my tank usually R100.00. petrol jockeys are among the lowest paid in SA.
