Esquire PriVio Light Tips, Tricks and Comments

Getting one of these tomorrow with 1tb drive. will upgrade firmware first thing, post my views on it after testing.

1.Usually the last file plays.
2.The chapter thing makes sense.duh to me.
3.The bitrate I choose fixed bitrate 5000kbps;high quality 2 pass encoding;audio at 64kbps;720 x 400;24fps

Guess what - I have been having the same issue with some of the files I have tried to play.
I'd have 2 avi's - try to place the 1st one - it would say reading, then somehow would skip to the next one. I would fathom a guess that it has something to do with the actual file itself and not to anything on the privio.
Whether it is the size of it or the way it was downloaded or encoded - it has to be one of these matters.

I will try and place these files in different folders (with only 1 in each folder) and see what happens.
Anyone have luck with the mp4 issue?

1) The PriVio doesnt like high bitrate or funny codings. Can you copy and paste the details of the AVI's?
2) Nothing yet, Esquire will have to get back to the developers and release a firmware fix

how would you find out what the bitrates and other tech info on the avi? (I am a bit wet behind the ears :) )

Esquire's not service orientated..

I went to get the ProVio today (all excited), got home, setup the case, download the firmware upgrade, and switched it on - NOTHING. A black screen with the word "initializing". Tried all the buttons - NOTHING.

Next step, since it is late on a Saturday afternoon, I guess I will have to wait for Monday, will have to take 2 hours off work (given the brilliant road infrastructure from JHB to Centurion) and get the stupid thing exchanged.

Not amused.

i found the unit easy to set up and use.

To check the basic video file info. Right click, properties, then summary. Or even just hover over the file and look at the tooltip

you must have had some new stock. Mines I had to update 1st.

Lets hope Esquire keeps updating firmware as bugs & improvements arise. So far looks good, will get my mom one too if all works fine after my testing.
Also some friends quite impressed with it, they also interested in buying once i give them my final "review" next week.
Must say i havent found an xvid with problems yet, but only on day 2 so i might still find one. I also dont play just any rogue xvid rips... just the "good stuff"

Son, where can I find the "good stuff"?

its a pity it doesnt support mkv format :(
maybe esquire can work something out if possible with firmware unless its an incompatible chip, then we buggered.

apparently the chipset doesnt support it.
Esquire are currently testing a Privio Pro which will have mkv support.

should have held out till pro got released :(
