Extremely High Ping and Latency [not resolved]

E367, but ping times are not much dependent on modem. Strange, I have three classes of local pings:
A: - 50ms (40-70)
B: - 200ms (200-260)
C: - 400ms (400-480)
Not consistent at all. One time all pings return 50ms, but few minutes second later there are in group B or C. There are also occassional single results around 1500ms, and this is the most annoying thing, as network stops responding. Last few days these delays are not so frequent and won't happen when download pipe is fully open (today downloads were very smooth 1500-1800Mbps), only when browsing.

Wow - Nice modem! Where'd you get it? (And cost?)

Lowest ping I've ever gotten to Google is 67ms (And that was a single blip in a 70ms average) :P

I generally average around the 70-90ms ping to Google, although have been having some crazy disconnects today (I have a friend with 8ta who lives nearby, and he DC's the EXACT same time I do).

I don't get above 100ms local unless I'm leaking though - So It's a pretty constant, although slowish (I can still download faster than those on a 4MB Line, but get way higher local pings - Heh heh) :P

@8ta R699 (with free SIM). Google gives slower pings. Looks like 8ta works hard on network, nothing is stable. :)

Sounds like 8ta's doing something at least... if you've contacted them and they were able to do something to fix this, please post it up and let us know.

Thanks you for forwarding this to your relavent deparment. but now I receive an email from 8ta regards to an issue with my email.... I DO NOT HAVE AN EMAIL ISSUE.... I have a ping/ latency issue..... And I have had 5 technicians at my house. siganl is 99%. they all confirm that the issue is 8ta related...

Also plz note that my internet has been a lot more stable but I do still experience "LET CALL IT DOWN TIME" bad ping and latency issues at certain times of the day and night.. I have had 4 disconnects in the past week and couldnt connect for about 20min at a time. I see that 8ta is trying to correct this issue and I really appreciate the effort... So High 5 to them for trying

8ta sent a (very nice) technician to my house, who spent about 1.5 hours here and come to the conclusion that the modem i got from the 8ta store is faulty. the modem is an huawei e1820. he said i should go to the store and ask for an exchange. went there and they said that they cannot give me an exchange but will send the modem to joburg for repairs and will give me a loan modem in the meantime. except that they didn't have ANY modems in the store... thus i'm still stuck with my busted modem. said they'd call me when they got stock but a week later and still nothing... sigh

neway, if you're experiencing a similar issue as me (fast download speeds, but slow upload + high ping), and you've got good signal and you know other people close to you have no problems, consider the modem as the issue. especially since these modems don't seem to have very good software support, especially for windows 7.

only way to confirm this would be to get a tech at your place, so call them if you that might be your issue. whether they'll actually do something about the issue is another question. seems like you gotta be a bit patient with these guys...

Read about modem power issues on this forum. E1820 in particular.

Waha this thread is turning into a joke. 8ta, your network is fscked. Go check all your routing, do it over from the start. I can't even play COD4 on local servers, and that is just down right pathetic really.

I was playing LoL with Nitrate again last night. We were chatting on Teamspeak. Wow. I could barely make him out at times.

Was considering getting 8ta for DotA2 since I can't get a physical telkom line installed. After reading all of this I'd be a retard to consider it. Getting Cell-C instead.

Hi danb!

Please can you let us know which device you are interested in, the area you are in and which store is closest to you so we can enquire which store has the device and how much stock is available at the stores closest to you.
