Fans declare war on Saru

Then take the stats given to you by Lager and the others. Why focus on Aus/NZ?

Edit: That's actually a rhetorical question, we all know why you asking those stats...

Goodness guys, doesn't rugby have a similar website to cricinfo where I can get the stats myself? Goodness, the amount of racial bickering here is amazing. Who cares if PdV is black? Who cares if HM is white? We should judge their stats as coaches to come to the best conclusion on their careers. I just simply want to look at stats, that's all. I'm not on either coach's side, I simply don't care enough. As a sports fan I just want to make my own judgement.

So post the AUS and NZ stats or refer me to the website that has them, then you guys can continue in your idiocy.

Why AUS and NZ?

Why Not Wales and England. Or World 15 or something like that?

I'm very curious... You're agenda is shining like a 10m candle light torch in pitch black of night.

I'm pretty convinced you already know those answers as a simple google would have given it to you. The gig is up man :D

I want their (PdV, HM, and JW) stats against all countries, as well as the number of cups won. At least I know their WC and u/21 stats, for PdV and JW. So you have them? I tried bing, and nothing up. So I don't know the answer.

Chinese people are very agile in general though (I blame martial arts and yoga). Could make a very good wing if said Chinese player has speed too.

Yip. Similar to the Japanese in that respect.

Top test try scorer in history is Japanese, Daisuke Ohata. 69 tries from 58 tests.

Although it'll mostly be against shyte teams. Still impressive, though.

If you want it for all teams then the Win/Lose ration would be good enough then. HM trumps PdV. And JW trumps HM.

Not to interrupt the frankly fascinating conversation but HM doesn't use "merit" to pick the white players... Surely blacks should also be picked on seemingly random criteria ;) Although HM may struggle finding a black with his No 1 driving choice, his name must start with V and end in ictor Matfield.

I'm in no way defending his choices up to date. Even I agree that Kriel should never have been on wing when he was played out of position. But let's not jump the gun here. I'm sure HM wanted to see how players will fit in certain positions if such a need arises. Let's assume all our first choice wings are injured in the 31 man squad and you can't add any more. What do you do then? I'm thinking this was his approach.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on those picks. What I will not try and even understand or justify is why Pollard/MSteyn/Ruan Pienaar is doing in that squad. Even more so Fourie Du Preez. There are players on form currently WAY better than them, yet he sticks with them...

Players like Faf and Jantjies jumps to mind.

Apparently Morne Steyn is on fire this year in France. Not a bad pick at all, when on form. He also has experience, which is valuable in a world cup. And Fourie du Preez is a mile ahead of any other scrumhalves we have, his return last year showed that instantly.

Pollard is no worse than our 2nd best flyhalf - of course he should be there. Ruan Pienaar is there only because he has more knowledge about northern hemisphere conditions than most.

Jantjies and Faf should be in the squad though, I agree.

Every coach picks players that many don't agree with - it's just the way it is. What you can be certain of, is no combination of players he could have picked differently, would have gotten us any more wins this year.

I agree with your post, no amount of changes would have won us any of those games we lost. We just didn't have the BGT to close those games. I'm sure we'll pull it off in the RWC, just need the AB's to choke and we got it. :)

HM isn't a moron. He is the first SA coach that won the Super Rugby competition. He also turned the Bulls around from being last in Super Rugby to being the premier SA rugby franchise in country for a substantial time period. His Bulls team was also the core of JW's WC winning squad, as well as PdV's squad.

I just think SA fans are way too fickle. On Super Rugby level, no coach can match what HM did. On JWC rugby, JW and PdV had great records. Every single one of them had to endure this kind of abuse. People keep saying PdV was an idiot, when the only option seemingly better than him (seeing that he already achieved more than JW before getting the Springbok coaching job) at that time was HM. Now every one says HM is an idiot.

Our country just needs to relax and let the coach do his job.

Hehe. Basically a repeat of 2007. The matches thus far this year painted a similar picture to 2007, with us being nowhere.

Agreed 100%. Armchair experts seem to know a helluva lot more about coaching than someone with a proven track record.

What HM did with the Bulls is absolutely incredible, and he can be credited with helping the Boks win the WC just as much as we can credit Pep Guardiola with Spain's Euro and WC wins.

Peter de Villiers attends burning of Bok jersey event

Former Springbok coach Peter de Villiers was a guest speaker at an event where a group of supporters burned a Springbok jersey out of protest last week.

A new organisation, Supporters Against Racist Rugby Associations (Sarra), was officially launched in Mossel Bay last Friday, where the group burned a Springbok rugby jersey.

The group wants to see more players of colour in the Springbok team and feels not enough is being done to speed up the transformation process in South African rugby.

De Villiers, 58, attended the event as guest speaker.

De Villiers, who coached the Springboks between 2008 and 2011, has made headlines over the past few weeks for his scathing criticism of current national coach Heyneke Meyer.

He feels Meyer is not giving enough black players the opportunity to prove their worth and wrote in a column that the current Bok coach “underestimated the intelligence of black people with a dishonest selection”.

He has also said that Meyer has taken South African rugby “into the gutters”.

De Villiers will work as a rugby pundit for the SABC during this year’s Rugby World Cup.

The 2015 Rugby World Cup, to be staged in England and Wales, runs from September 18 until October 31.

They should be more worried about the fact that Frans Steyn is not part of the Squad no more. He is a game winner in tests. We needed his boot most of all.

I thought Steyn returned to the training camp?

He is also heading to Montpellier when the World Cup is concluded.

There was a rumour this morning on Radio that he won't be making the tour as there is no space for him. How true that is I don't know, been trying to find a source. This will be devastating to our campaign though. That kid has a boot no one in the world can beat. When it comes to the RWC, every point counts. If it means a drop goal from your own half, you need a guy that can do it.

I'm getting a feeling that Frans really wants to be part of the squad, the coach really wants him to be part of the squad, but he's still second-guessing whether SARU will be bull****ting him again like last year - what it looks like to me anyway. I could be way off.

I have no doubt in his coaching or ability to turn the boks into the World's number 1 team again.

I just can't approve/agree with some of his choices :o

Oh of course not. But we had the same thing with Jake, Mallett and even Kitch Christie. As a coach, you can only pick 15 for your starting line-up - if he has to keep every supporter with an opinion happy with his team selection, his starting line-up would contain 40 players, which is against the laws of rugby. :p
