First election results in

They still haven't even counted my ward, it only has a few thousand registered voters so i dont get it.
 
Number of votes counted almost inline with 2009 and around 400 districts still to go.

See DA's percentage went up a little 22.17%

Yes from 60 something to 80 something. They should be very proud of themselves - they have done very well in these elections.

Will depend on the final number of votes but as it stands now yes. They had 32 before. Reckon they should now be getting around 80 seats.... can that be right...

Almost 1 million votes more since 2009 elections. It can be right...
 
Not sure why people think the DA had 30 something seats previously, they had 67.

Yeah but until the ANC has less than 200 seats its not that much of an improvement.

Yes they have done well, but given the resources they have they should have done better than this. They got the same new votes as EFF, and to me that is not good enough. EFF probably had less 10% of their resources, and that's assuming that DA spent R100m+ which I think is conservative.

Will more seats benefit them if they want to put forward a motion to impeach Zuma again?

Im not so sure about that, i think going from where the EFF currently is to where the DA is, is much more difficult. COPE and the IFP are examples of that.

I agree, the additional 1 million votes is only around 5% of the total votes, I would have liked to see them at a total of 25% this time round.

But with that said, they are in a better position now and will have the opportunity to possibly take more municipalities and by doing so most probably change the 'hearts and minds' of those people which should in turn [hopefully] result in them being able to pass the 30% mark in 2019.

I think the extra seats will help them get day to day stuff done a bit more efficiently but in the long run it will not be much help when it comes to corruption and the like.
