FNB Fraud!

Well, thank you all for your time and for those who actually gave advise on contacting the ombudsman. That will be the next step.

As for the others, I am just going to leave this chat now as I can't believe what I am reading. We asked for advise as someone scammed me out of my hard earned money.

And I sure hope that this never happens to you.

Yeah you are correct, That why its difficult to advice scammed people as they always leave out the important details. If indeed the fraud happened before the card was even activated then Why did they accept and sign for the card from the courier? and Why not call the fraud line and enquire why a card that is in transit is being used for fraud?
It happened while the card was still in the envelope just after delivery

She did log a fraud call, cancel the card and money is not refunded. They claim

Cheque
I checked on FNB now, both the transaction history and statements do not stipulate the card number used, so how did you know which card it was? Via InContact?

You did reply to the question but in a very convoluted way (my head is still buffering on that one)..

yup the card might not even be involved... AGAIN....

Your other account said it was the old card that was used.

Are you saying it was the new card?

And did you bet on SRH to win the IPL?

So how do you know this was the card used?

And how exactly was it used that the account could be emptied out?
After the fraudulent transactions, she opened the card to compare the new card number on the statement as it was not the old card number

Ah, now we getting somewhere!

Those are inContact notifications, and not your statement.

If that is indeed the new card number, and you can prove it was not opened or activated before the transactions then you have a case

I need some help om a situation.

My sister's FNB account got hacked and they've empty the account took a big amount of money.

The card used for the Fraud was her new card number delivered the previous day.

The time the Fraud happened the card was still sealed in the envelope unopened. Not even even activated on her FNB app. She phoned FNB Fraud department and they did an investigation. Now FNB don't want to pay her back. What let me think that the fraud is coming from inside the bank.

I'm very disappointed in FNB with this matter.. I'm also with FNB and I want to move my account now because of this.

Did anyone experienced a similar situation? Or have any advice on going forward to resolve this situation. She is really in a need of her money to take care of her children..

When did the hack happen?
When did the FNB investigation conclude (when they told you that they were not paying back the money)
When did you get your statement? AFAIK FNB cheque statements do not include the card number on them (only the monthtly CC statements include card details for the used cards).

There are a number of inconsistencies in your story which make it hard for me to accept it without corroborating evidence.

No other forums I'm a member of whether local or international, has such a high level of douchebaggery.
There is the "other" forum - but from your wording you either like them or don't know about them

payment link created so someone created the link also how many notifications did you need before reporting FRAUD?
