Free HSDPA Swapout

Have you already swapped your old 3G data card for a new HSDPA data card?

Well, I went to my local vodacom shop, asked for a swop-out and he imediately replied saying they have no stock and that he will phone when they do have.
The only thing that bothers me is that he took a copy of my ID, my telephone number and made me sign something saying my ID is correct.
He then put the paper in a cabinet, now I know that these kinds of papers can get 'lost' very easily.
So I think I should phone back on monday and ask if they got stock in or not.
 
Never give info like that to no one...never..

Who is this and what are they called??

Why does he need your ID for? I swopped out my card and never had to even show my ID. Even stranger that they want your ID -before- they actually did a transaction. I would've told them i'll give them that when they have stock.
 
I took my ID with just in case. In the end all they made a copy of was my original purchase invoice, no signatures, then handed me that elusive DVD casing and off I darted before anybody could stop me. :rolleyes:

I have just bought a second hand card for R800, 3G is much better than I thought it would be :) so HSDPA must be awesome ...

I obviously hope to swop this card (original DVD case packaging, CD, book, external antenna - all in mint condition, bought new in November 2005) "when stocks arrive" at the local PMB Mall Vodashop. Seller bought it with some or another "Weekender Plus" type contract and can't use it anymore as he has switched from a WinTel Laptop to a Apple Mac that apparently has no PCMCIA slot ...

I don't have the contract / original SIM card (seller has retained that to use for normal voice calls in a phone) - will I be able to do the swap or am I going to have to get the original owner to do it?

I have a feeling that when the dust settles and there is plenty of stock the V/Shops aren't going to be so full of cr8p about the whole thing!

I swapped one out on Friday for a friend while doing mine..Was in his wifes name..No hassles,as long as the serial number corresponds to the original invoice..

Agreed - this is kinda our "tentative" arrangement anyway but they don't even have stock to sell on NEW contracts yet, much less swapout stock.

Got my HSDPA card today. I was at Design 4 Living all day so last night i wrote a letter giving my bro permission to do the swap out on my behalf. Posting this now on HSDPA card. Speeds are awesome.

That store can do a re print of you proof of purchase by scaning the IMEI on the computer system.Please visit the store where it was purchased from

It's the vodashop in Waterfall mall rustenburg, they also said to me on the phone that they need the original packaging, proof of purchase at that store, and that I should bring my ID along with the contract.
Dunno why they needed it, maybe it's their form of waiting list or something

Thnx for this, we found the original "till slip" which has the IMEI number on it (shown as serial no) and purchase date / store.

Store was Vodashop Shelley (spelling :confused: ) Beach, are you saying I have to go there for the swapout?

No, you can swap ANYWHERE.
 
Cool, if my local vodashop has no stock come monday or tuesday, I will drive from here (rustenburg) to pretoria or jo'burg and get it swopped out there. I just hope that the store I choose doesn't come up with the 'we only swop out for our customers' story :p

We'll just have to see :cool:

Clarity on swap out policy

Please note the following communication that went out to the stores.

The only time you need to go back to the original store is when the 3G card was bought outright for cash. I assume in this case there is no link back to Vodacom, so it can't be administered centrally.

Any store can swap out 3G Mobile Connect Cards for ANY customer across all Vodacom Service Providers. Please do not turn customers away if they have a 3G Mobile Connect Card.

The only customers who need to return to their original store with proof of purchase are those that had bought HSDPA cards and require a refund.
