Frogfoot Cape Town

Hi. Is there an issue in Milnerton/Burgundy Estate/Bothasig area? Frogfoot manages the fibre infrastructure here.

The Afrihost rep on my fault is sending me in the "send these tests and reset the router" circle. I am having a constant 2%-10% packet loss and intermittency.

Hi,

I don't see any notices.

Can you dm me your details so I can investigate. Have you done any trace routes?

I'm based in Fish Hoek. My poor ISP has been battling with Frogfoot to address their congestion issues for nearly 6 months now. My ISP told me that FF were "ducking and diving" the issue, so it seems they're still at it. I absolutely love my ISP but they don't operate on an alternative FNO in my area.

My connection has been consistently going to sh#t between 1800-2200, every. day. Things started going wonky around May, it picked up in July and it's been getting steadily worse since.

These are the stats from my WAN interface (stats are averaged when viewing on this time scale);

Good day. Thank you for your post. Can you please provide is with the reference your ISP has logged with Frogfoot. Kindly also provide us with the below details for us to assist you:

  • Your full name
  • Physical Address
  • Cell phone number

Glad to have another user from the same area as I am from. Sadly there appears to be no end in sight to the crap service we are getting.

Bot like replies and no feedback from FrogFoot just shows the effort going into the investigation.

Our internet is unusable after 6PM. We are paying customers and we are providing all the info and evidence you can think of. Yet, here we are.

FrogFoot, you are going down the rabbit hole of a shitty service provider. We all know that is one hole you cannot get out off easily. So please. Even if you provide little, but proper feedback while we wait. It is the least you can do.

If your network teams are not listening to ISPs and their highly capable network engineers operating on your network, do you think it is reasonable to expect that your teams will listen to a couple of vocal users on MyBB?

Feel free to DM me contact details for one of your network engineers, I will pass it on to my ISP (who I am sure already have those details anyway) so they can repeat what they have been saying for months. I'll be honest, all I expect is more "ducking and diving" - this has been happening since May and I highly doubt that it's just my ISP which has noticed the congestion in the last 4 months.

Please, why don't you do all of your customers and users in this thread a favor and log a ticket yourself, escalate it to your infrastructure teams, provide us with the reference number and add updates in this thread. Please stop this nonsense of hiding behind ISPs and giving us useless generic/canned responses.

This is the quality of the traffic that you, Frogfoot, are providing my ISP - I'd be willing to bet a significant sum of money that your teams are already in possesion of this data and have been sitting on it for several months;

Frogfoot FTTH Burgundy, Cape Town. Customers may experience problems with no Connectivity. Kindly note that the Engineers are attending. Further feedback to follow.

I live in Fish Hoek and have the same problems as the other posters above with Frogfoot fiber in the evenings. It's horrible.

This is the past week on Frogfoot. Pings direct from my router to next hop, which is Afrihost. Lots of periods of terrible to no connectivity for several minutes to an hour.

I only joined Frogfoot about a month ago. I've decided to keep my WISP connection as well for now, as Frogfoot is not reliable enough to game online on. It's a sad state when a wired provider is worse than a wireless one with their extra complications and factors that affect wireless networks.

Morning,

Have you logged it with us already?

Please drop me a pm with your email so I can follow up on the fault if you have or log one if you haven't yet logged a fault.

So for those who have potentially the same problem whereby your line would just die for a couple of seconds at a time? Don't use your line - that's the solution from Frogfoot. Hopefully moving over to Openserve soon :cross_fingers:

Sorry Capetonians...but welcome to our pain up the N2 in Port Elizabeth.
This is constant. There is barely a week that goes by where there isn't an issue (more often than not, the announcement there is an issue is some time after we pick up an issue, followed by the immediate resolution SMS...because it has taken them that long).
There is barely a weekend that goes by that they DON'T do maintenance (if memory serves me correctly it was twice last weekend!).
Vote with your wallets and find another FNO if you can. I only have Vuma outside as an option, but Openserve are trenching. I will be chucking Vox too as they own Frogfoot and don't seem interested to get things resolved much.
I will be looking for a new ISP once Openserve have confirmed installation.

Oi, bruv. Overutilization? WTEFF. Advise please?

My line has also been down and up and down over the past few weeks. That has been fun.

@PBCool, what on earth is overutilization?
