Sherwood/Kunene park is unstable again
Hi.

There is a fault in the area and the update is as follows.

Outage Update | Garden route and Eastern Cape | Intermittent.
"Core team is currently troubleshooting the Optical Transmission Network, and we have concurrently escalated the issue with our fiber vendor"

At 15h45 my Axxess connection dropped (died) for about 40 seconds ; initially thought it was the streaming app, but when I checked the primary Deco, the light was red.

I don't have monitoring apps running to indicate drops, so rely on the simple method described.

Hope this isn't the start of another round of regular FF dropped connections, but last time fairly sure they replaced something (in JHB ?) that stabilised the network for months, until now.
Hi.

I think the last time was a core router outage, or something to that effect.

I have given up with getting reliable service, although we did have a few weeks of trouble-free FTTH at one stage.

Hi.

Please confirm if your connection is stable?
Since the outage, I have now been "upgraded" from DCHP to PPPoE, which I was under the impression was an outdated technology. It is stable.

I read that this would allow for the benefits of PPPoE dual-stack. Except my free modem for signing up with Axxess fibre was a Tenda AC10 v1 which does not support IPv6, it seems.

There is a definite performance hit, although probably nothing that would impact "normal" users. So I can't really complain. The only alternative in my area is Openserve which also uses PPPoE.

Question 1. Is there a recommended MTU for the network. It was initially on 1480 and I changed it to 1492.
Question 2. Do I need to buy a new IPv6 modem? Are the benefits of IPv6 worth it?
