Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

Anyone else in Walmer down?

Edit: still down and the broadband & service lights are off on the ONT for some reason.

Not sure if this is isolated to me but I finally got through to my ISP and they logged a fault 1 hour into downtime, tried FF phone in support again a few minutes after it went down and they said their new policy is to only help ISP representatives
Hi Joshsparkie, please note that due to a municipality removing a large tree they have damaged Frogfoot cables with their excavation equipment. We are urgently repairing the damage and will notify when the line is back up and running.

I see we have some FF maintenance next week

Yes that's exactly my experience yesterday night and actually the last two weeks in Lorraine after 7pm. During the morning when no one is home I get my full speed 50/50 mbps.

Come peak time from 7pm onward and everything on their international upstream is unwatchable.

I suspect it's a capacity problem and I know they use DFA as their upstream provider so either they did not buy enough capacity or it's congestion. Local seems unaffected ,but that's not what I'm paying for.

I would think local and international would be affected by congestion on frogfoot side .
Would rather think if local perfect but international sick would point to your isp ?

Congestion causes packet loss, local doesnt get affected as bad as the latency is lower, but international suffers quite a bit

Port Elizabeth residents: We are experiencing capacity problems in the Port Elizabeth region at peak usage windows. Our network team is working to resolve this as a priority. Updates to follow. Thank you for your patience at this time.

Yesterday was yet another display of fibre fail at it's best.

First load shedding ended at 2pm and the router would not reconnect. This lasted until about 8pm when it finally reconnected, but speedtest.net and fast.com indicated 0 throughput.

This is becoming a regular occurrence in Lorraine, PE and I would love to know from @Frogfoot Fibre when they expect this to be resolved as Lorraine consists of mainly townhouse complexes and I am sure demand outstrips supply by a fair margin.

Yet on a daily basis you see these fibre providers standing on the corners of the suburb advertising fibre on the frogfoot network promising blazing fast fibre speeds whereas in reality they do not have near the capacity to supply it.

Maybe first sort out your network before over selling to the public a product that is far from what is advertised.

As a matter of interest, are these sorts of outages / issues occurring in all of the areas covered by Frogfoot? I can't recall a mate who's in Newton Park having as much grief.

What is going on with this FNO?

Speeds are at a crawl who is to blame frogfail fibre or bankrupt cellc fibre no one knows at any of these companies the one blaming the other in typical SA style.
