Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

50/5Mbps fibre line provided by Vox using Frogfoot:

40ms ping to a Vox server in CPT
44.68Mbps download (started off at 20Mbps and had to crank its way up there)
5.16Mbps upload

So far it hasn't impacted us, and hopefully it stays that way.
40ms latency to CT is way to high for fibre.

DSL could match that on old copper lines ...

It indicates FF customers in PE have been put into some alternate NLD routing pool.

Which is unlikely to have sufficient capacity come this evening when the latency will increase to 100ms.

Been there, done that and sadly have too many T-Shirts for this awful FNO service.

Yeah, I've said many times I've given up logging calls. Just biding my time until Openserve fire up their fibre in my section of the suburb. Then I'm switching.

Nothing is being done by Frogfoot to allay their customers' fears to be honest. Business as usual and their parent company is still trying to get sign-ons with little shows on street corners.

Good day John Mao. Thank you for your message. Can you provide us with your reference nr logged by your ISP , starting with FF# so we may investigate the matter and provide you with feedback? Thank you.

As before, I stopped logging calls in 2020 already as they got me nowhere. I'll ride the endless dips and maintenance until Openserve have put a box outside my house, and then I'll switch like there's no tomorrow.

Same.

As soon as there is Vumatel or Openserve in my area, my biggest mistake of 2020 of using Frog Fail becomes history.

I feel for you lot on Frogfoot in PE, I really do. You should really rally your neighbours to register interest for other providers. Also you should be getting a credit for so many outages IMO

For fun I submitted a ticket this morning to Cool Ideas.

Cue "please reboot your router then plug an ethernet cable directly into your ONT for us".

I laughed; simply don't have the time between meetings for this.

FrogFoot also know it - that's how they're getting away with this because it gives them more time to obfuscate.

Unethical behaviour and borderline white collar fraud imho.

I have Vumatel as an option but they're expensive. Openserve is more cost-effective than them. I had ADSL provided by Openserve with data by Webafrica and only went down 8x in the 8.5 years I had it.
Bested that within 3 weeks last year July on Frogfoot.

Latency back down to 13ms.

Are they rerouting us during peak times to use another route? I see the packet loss is magically gone.

I have always thought this. It is mostly around 5/6 pm to about 1030 that the net sucks and I have packet loss. Think the normal route is so oversold that during peak times it dies and we get rerouted.

Same observation this side.

Of course though - we are treated like fools by FF, their rep bot, and 1st level ISP support.

Reboot your router, connect directly to your ONT, let's do some logs.

All smoke and mirrors when there is obviously something going on with infrastructure behind the scenes that is being kept hush.

I was close to the MSAN and had 40mbps DSL for around 6 years in PE.

Maybe 3-4 outages during that entire time.

Can't beat that.

3-4 outages is typically 2-3 days on FrogFoot in PE.

Abysmal.
