I did. :p

No Welsh roots though. My family originates from Scotland. My Mom swears from her trip last year that most of the people in Edinburgh look like me. I'll have to go visit my people sometime. :laugh:

I currently have a 100/50Mbps deal with Mweb on Openserve infrastructure. The connection quality drops down to pathetic levels a couple times per month since sometime in 2018. This can last between an hour and a full day. Download speed becomes horrendous, ping at least doubles, packet loss, jitter etc. Upload speed stays the same though for some reason. After a few phone calls with them, queries via twitter and email exchanges I can say with certainty that they know just as little as I do as to why this problem exists. The problem could be with Mweb or Openserve; I have no idea. I'm just putting this out there for people who are aiming for an Mweb deal on Openserve infrastructure - some food for thought. Would not recommend.

It is a Openserv issue today, there is currently a fibre break somewhere. This is impacting OS FTTH from Knysna to PE (possible further)
 
Saw some people splicing green fibre towards the bottom of 2nd ave this afternoon. Soon! Soon!
 
Not sure what fibre provider, frogfoot guys was real careful in our street tho , dug carefully looking for water and power lines. Screenshot_20191009-112439_Facebook.jpeg
 
The Frogfoot guys were very careful down our street as well but the contractors that installed what appears to be the SADV lines were pathetic.

Left the trenches open for weeks on end and made a massive mess of the area.
 
It would make more sense for the Muni to halt the services of the offending providers, not all of them - but still, not a nice thing to have happen at all.

Did they halt the install only in Ward 6 or does this apply to all wards?

I have asked on ward6 Facebook page , they say only ward 6 , asked our ward 39 she says other wards contractors were just warned
 
I saw the contractors still digging in our road this morning (Ward 39), so it does seem just Ward 6 getting the short end of the stick
 
This is such a lame blow to the knees. Luckily mine is already installed but so many people finally have them coming down their streets and now they need to stop.

And in my opinion this is probably not the fault of the fiber contractors hitting pipes - it's probably due to the fact that the municipality's blue prints are up to shyte and outdated.
 
Yeah the blueprints are normally out of date, or incorrect

I watched DFA trenching a few months back, they dug pilot holes every 5-10m (maybe where they knew there were pipes) to check the depth etc first, then dug the normal trench between the pilot holes

Havent noticed any of the other guys doing this though

Everyone hits pipes and cables eventually though, even the municipality did this a few years back here
 
Blitz Fibre is installing some of the infrastructure into our complex today, but we are still a while away because we don't even have trenching done to the front gate yet. But progress is progress, I guess!

They installed inside our block of flats in May, we still waiting to go live lol

When they do the box inside your place, make sure they mount the ONT properly (with the supplied screws) and not with cheap double sided tape like they did at my place. Its all fallen off the wall and probably damaged the fibre now.
