Just wanted to share my PE Frogfoot install timeline:

2 October 2019 - Ordered from Afrihost
8 October 2019 - Received appointment confirmation from Frogfoot/Closed Circuit PE for 23 October
23 October 2019 - Closed Circuit PE arrive for installation on time, 20 or so minutes later they say they do not have enough cable and will need to order more and come back tomorrow, few more minutes pass and they say we will be contacted about the rescheduled appointment.
25 October 2019 - Frogfoot/Closed Circuit PE finally rescheduled for 31 October
31 October 2019 - Phoned at 1pm saying will be late for 2pm appointment by like an hour. At 6pm they arrive and apologise and reschedule for next morning.
1 November 2019 - They arrived at appointment time (9am) and finished installing the line after 5pm.

Blitz installed the optical bit into our unit today, and the installer said that the splicing would be done on Monday and we should be live by Wednesday. That's quite optimistic seeing as we don't even have an ETA on the Frogfoot coverage site yet, but I'll be pleasantly surprised if his words hold fast :)

We also going live aparently in Summerstrand this next week, map also shows no ETA

We have been told many dates in the past but they are actually having a launch day with ISP's here to help with signups so looks like it may actually happen :)

The installer also spoke something about a roadshow or a tent or something to spark interest in the complex, but I don't see many of our units signing up - the owners here are around 65% pensioners and most don't seem to care about internet access.

Holding thumbs that you go live soon - I guess I need to get my affairs in order and probably look at either transferring my uncapped Telkom LTE to someone or attempt to cancel the contract. It's month to month at the moment, so I'm hoping that whatever route I take it doesn't cause me any excess frustration

Snap Im also on uncapped LTE, best is to go into the telkom shop, ive done a transfer before and it was quite easy with both parties there

Out of 70 odd units we only have 7 signups so far, but with all the delays I think people got frustrated and gave up

I guess you will need to have both parties present to do this smoothly? I'll probably see if anyone on Gumtree is interested, otherwise I will just try cancel.

I waited for the guys to come splice the cable but they never pitched and I am heading to work now. I did tell them I would only be here until 9 anyway, so not my problem now.

Is your complex mostly ADSL subscribers still?

Funny enough the adsl is so bad most people are on LTE
This is why Openserve was reluctant to put fibre in (they look at the amount of adsl customers)

Around our area too. There are the odd few who have ADSL, but it seems that many jumped onto the LTE bandwagon when it released at cost-effective prices. I just wish that they would roll out fibre to all areas and be done with. There are very few reasons to still use residential copper in this day and age

Linton Grange 1.3 has been pushed back to 15 of November. Hope it isn't gonna be repeat thing. :(

Glenhurd & Newton Park don't seem to have a ETA any more. when checking the map.

Well its now been officially one year since our body corporate signed the contract with Blitz Fibre, promising 6 weeks install time.

I will keep on moaning and reminding people NOT to sign exclusivity clauses with these companies, they dont hold up in court anyway

Lately we were promised middle of Oct, then end of Oct

On Friday we were told that the OLT was installed but it takes 48 hours to provision (? possibly to configure) and will be live on Tuesday
All of us who pre ordered (in May) had our ONT's installed long ago and we were told on Tuesday they will start doing installations! They dont even know who is installed and who isnt lol

I suspect that due to the Frogfoot PE backbone being congested they maybe dont want to add new load to the network

An interesting test to 1.1.1.1

Openserve FTTH with Afrihost PPPoE Details:
738673

Frogfoot FTTH via Afrihost DHCP:
738677

Edit: Let me know if you guys want me to test specific IPs to compare the 2 FTTH networks (Openserve line will be cancelled at the end of the month)

The team to do the splicing inside our home was here yesterday, but they couldn't complete it so they said they would be back some time this morning to finish the job. Something about a NDP and a manhole - not 100% sure on the details.

Hmm kabega 1.4 due to be live end of month, can't see it happening tho now the question is when do they stop working for year end

So Blitz finally went "live" in our building on the 16th November

Problem is none of us in the building can dial the pppoe connection to our respective isp's

According to blitz the lines are provisioned and they can pick up our ONT's so everything is fine and it must be the ISP's problem or ours.

These people are an absolute joke

Edit: Thanks to Mohamed from RocketNet for trying to get this working for me but also hitting the same responce from Blitz. The guys at Axxess are also helping my friend :/
