Fuel consumption

So while I am waiting on my new Raptor I check the okes crying on the Raptor FB pages about the fuel consumption. Everyone trying to get their figures as low as possible. Why the fsck I don't know. Drive the bloody thing.

Stole this pic of the FB page. Looks like this is the average consumption they getting. Hahahahah

The M2 was heavy on fuel and had a small tank. So got very few kms per tank. Seems like the new Raptor is gonna be the same story. Will have to wait and see. I am used to drving a diesel Jeep Wrangler 4 door with big wheels and lifted suspension etc. that also has bad fuel consumption.

Anyway the wait is killing me. I have finally lined up a demo model that i can get in a month or so, and i also have an order in on the system. Will see what comes first.
cannot wrap my head around paying R350 to drive 100km >_<

Yes, it's rough. I am still young(ish). And, YOLO.
I said never in this world would I pay that much for a bakkie. But ja look at me now. Hahahaha.
How young is young? Im still young (34) I would like to believe

Turning 37 this year. I am an 86 model.

even if i could afford it

there is some good 2nd hand gd6s or even older raptors for half of that

You say @epah wishes he could be like me? I take it you mean straight?

I had a GD6, then upgraded to the V6 Amarok. Brilliant bakkie the Amarok and the new ones aren't far off the price of a Raptor. So yeah. And yes there was nothing wrong with my Amarok. Had 60k km on the odo.

My arse just has a massive itch.

hows the amarok vs the gd6 ..i guess the amarok is more for "luxury" as people said they not really offroad bakkies

but yeah the new amarok prices is similar to the ford - madness

Look the GD6 is a Toyota, nothing wrong with it I just wanted a V6.
I have gone everywhere the Toyotas go with my Amarok. Moerse capable 4-motion system, you just drive and go anywhere.

And then the engine. Blows the GD6 out of the water. Is an amazing package. The V6 kept me from going for the 1st gen Raptor, was not going to give up that power for a 2L diesel.

Gonna get a lot of flak from my buddies when I have the Raptor. All the original Ford jokes. As they are die-hard Toyota fans. But deep down inside they also want 300kw and a suspension like that on the new Raptor. So not too phased.

 No I don’t want to be straight, then I would have to go through a divorce like you. Yikes no thanks

PS, I can take care of that massive itch on your arse though. Goodnight .

aaah so each to his own i guess as to what they prefer

The Duster is proving to be quite frugal with ~80% city driving. It's nowhere near the newer ones with the EDC gearbox , but also about par for the course for the manual 6-speed AWD model

Is that the 1.5 diesel?
Yup. The short-ratio gearbox is a bit of a pain in town driving, but pulling away in 2nd gear helps (and the owner’s manual recommends this, actually).

First gear is super short meant for offroad crawling since it lacks a dedicated transfer case with low range

1.3 ton 1.5L diesel and you get 7.4 L/100km?
That's one harsh AWD. What do you get if you do a long distance trip?

That’s 100% city driving. On the open road it sits at 7l/100km at 120kph with the AC on and two passengers.

It’s not very aerodynamic so dropping to 105-110kph it goes down to 5.2-5.5L/100km indicated

I'm now
I drive a 2010 Tata Indica 1.4l petrol.

My last fill up showed 7.64l/100km.
My average over 48 000km in about 6 years is 7.88l/100km.

I now drive a 2021 Nissan Almera N17 1.5l petrol with 5 speed manual gearbox.

My last fill up showed 6.26l/100km.
My average over 2 800km in 3 months is 6l/100km.
